Pls help!! Has anyone ever had to cancel an excursion? What happens? Do you get your money back? Minus a service fee? Do you contact dcl directly?

Tia!! :flower:

If you booked the excursion through DCL, you can cancel at any time up to 3 days before your cruise departure with no penalty. i think you should be able to cancel online but I've never done it myself.

If Booked online you can cancel it online just go to the day of the activity and click on it and there is an option for cancel or modify it. It's as easy as that.

You can do it up to three days before the cruise, and as you were never charged in the first place there is no refund due.

If you're canceling ahead of time and it's a DCL-based excursion, there is no need for a refund as you have not been charged for it (unlike other lines, DCL doesn't charge at booking for excursions...though honestly I wish they would as it helps with budgeting and keeps people from just grabbing an excursion and then deciding if they want to do it up to the 3 days prior to sailing).

If you cancel within the 3 days of the cruise or while on the cruise, there is a good chance you would be charged. If they are able to rebook your slot, you might not be, but I would plan on the charge happening.

If the excursion is cancelled by DCL and/or the provider (happens sometimes on CC because of winds - can sometimes happen in other places because of weather or in the rare instance the ship cannot dock), then you would be refunded. Again, assuming you booked a DCL excursion.

If you are booking your own excursions not through DCL, you would need to check with that provider as to their policies (I'd recommend Trip Advisor as well for comments from people who have actually experienced the excursion and possibly what happens in reality with refunds.)

On our cruise DCL even offered us to cancel the Trunk Bay snorkeling excursion and get a full refund because the water was very murky as there had been bad weather the days before we got to St Thomas. They told us that when we checked in for our excursion. I thought that was a very fair offer! We changed to a different excursion (the St John island tour) and were only charged for the price of that which was lower than the snorkeling excursion.
