My husband and I have a 4pm flight back home on Saturday. We are taking the DCL shuttle to the airport after the cruise. I am beginning to wonder what there is to do for that many hours. Yes...I am bringing a good book but that may not be enough.
I'd almost be tempted to rent a room at the airport Hyatt if I were waiting that long. You can get some rest, be comfortable and still be at the airport when your flight time comes.
Hi Susan. One possibility, depending upon your energy level and finances, might be to take a taxi from the airport to Downtown Disney. Spend a couple of hours at Disneyquest. Then return to the airport. Just a thought...
hi, we are in the same position. our flight doesnt leave until 6 p.m. because we wanted a non stop flight and it was the only one except for those in early morning. anyone else have suggestions on what to do? barb
Our flight does not leave until 7:30 pm on the Saturday, so we've rented a car one-way from Avis at the port which we can return to the Orlando airport. It is only costing $35 which is considerably less than the DCL transfers - and so much more flexible.
Our plan - for the moment, since we are still more than 2 mos. out - is to take our time getting off the ship (we'll let all those with early flights do the rushing!), drive to Downtown Disney for some shopping, maybe a movie, & lunch. OR if we are feeling really peppy, we may just go ahead & do Blizzard Beach which we missed on our last trip to WDW last May. OR we may go over to Universal Studioa as DD has been dying to do it.... So many possibilities, and the car is the key.
We had a 4:35 flight and a rental car. We went on an air boat ride. It was really a great one. Had been on airboats before in Florida, but we saw a lot of gators and wildlife. That took us till lunch time, had slow lunch and was at the airpost around 3.
Markey - was your airboat ride at The Lone Cabbage Fish Camp? We went there last year during a WDW break and it was terrific. An interesting restaurant too. Gator tail tastes a lot like chicken! lol.
No, actually believe it or not it was in Christmas, Florida. Right up 95 from the Port. You got off at the Titusville exit and went west. It was about 3 miles, stayed right on that road and it took us to the airport.
Hi Susan, keep an eye on the launch schedule. The shuttle may be launching about the time we get back from the cruise. We have reserved a room at the Radisson for the day we get back in the hopes we will get to see a launch.
