What to do for my birthday :)

My birthday falls right in the middle of my trip this fall (November 5) and I'm looking for something special to do or somewhere special to eat. I'll be going solo, by the way :D

The date falls on a Saturday and I was planning it as a non-park day but I can work around that if I find something interesting enough in the parks.

I looked at the signature menus and nothing really caught my eye (except for the Brown Derby but I booked that for another day). Either that or things seem waaay too expensive. (I'm not getting the DDP.)

Anything special you can think of? :)

I'd do the Afternoon Tea at Grand Floridian. We did that last summer and loved it! I'm sure there are lots of pics online to show you the massive amount of food you get. It's delicious too!

Thanks! I didn't think this was my kind of thing because I'm not that into tea and I always prefer savory over sweet, but I see they do serve some savory as well.
No tables available for now but I'll keep trying.

Any other suggestions are welcome as well :flower3:

Do you have a favorite restaurant? When I go on my birthday I pick my favorite things to do, typically going to typhoon lagoon during the day and dinner at night. I love Wolfgang puck express so I've done that with some shopping at Disney springs in the evening.

Thank you :) I don't have a favorite restaurant yet.
I tried looking for ADRs at CRT or BOG, figuring it's a special enough occasion to try them but alas, all booked of course.
I'm a bit late booking this trip ;)

I spent my birthday in 2014 having dinner at Narcoossees, where we watched "Wishes" from the deck and ELP. It was very nice. I had a fastpass for 7DMT right before.

Maybe a tour? We have enjoyed several of the tours. I once had some spa treatments at the GF for an early birthday present. Pricey compare to what I can get locally but a wonderful treat I still remember. I want to try the tea sometime.

I was considering a signature but the menus didn't appeal to me enough to justify the price... :guilty:

I may book a tour if I can't decide on anything else (or find any suitable ADRs)...
Not so into spa treatments but I'll look into that.

Thank you both!

Don't do a tour if it doesn't interest you! I am sure you can find a suitable ADR. It is your birthday so I know that will work out for you. pixie dust!!

What about Turf Club at SSR? My brother and SIL went there on their anniversary and really enjoyed it. I have been 3 times, and find it to be one of the more relaxing dining venues. Maybe do a movie or La Nouba at Disney Springs before/after?

Do something you've never done before, try a new restaurant. Go resort hopping, get on a bus to a park and hop on the first resort bus that comes. One year for my birthday I bought a little autograph book and had a CM from every country in Epcot write Happy Birthday in their language and sign it. They loved it and we ended having some great discussions about their countries. I bought a pin from each country and made a sort of shadow box with the pin attached to the message and a picture taken at each country when I got home.

Never even heard about the Turf Club. I'll check it out, thanks! And I booked La Nouba for a different night, silly me- I should have just done it on my b-day

That's an awesome idea! I'd probably be too shy to strike up a conversation with so many CMs (at least 11, right? ;) ) but how cool for you!
Resort hopping is a nice thought, thank you!

Make sure you get a birthday button.

Have u considered the fireworks cruise? Or MVMCP? Not sure if it's available that day... Flying fish should also be reopened then. Maybe check that out? Or Star Wars dessert party? (Has some savoury choices too and a very good view I read) ;)

I haven't experienced but have heard of the new tours at AKL that involve a meal. Those sound interesting :)

Truthfully, as I'm going solo I was thinking of NOT getting a button this time :rolleyes1
It would be really embarrassing for me if servers started singing in restaurants and I'm there all by my lonesome.

MVMCP starts on the night I leave (Nov 7) but I WILL be going to MNSSHP! (Just not on my birthday ;) )
The dessert parties have savory choices? Hmmm that's something to consider then! :-) Thanks!

Check this thread if you're interested in the dessert party: http://www.disboards.com/threads/of...rks-dessert-party-launch-bay.3439569/page-457

Last night they started serving flat breads and hummus too. :) Also, they have not opened for booking past July31, so you would have to wait to book.
