Quick question about meals....
We are staying at the CBR which has a "mediocre" food court quite a walk from our building. Would we be better off heading there for breakfast, or waiting and eating at the park of the day? Don't want to waste any time in a restaurant early in the day or spend early morning park time looking for food...Any helpful hints?

Hi CECE!

I guess that depends on what you want for breakfast. Is your family a "sit down and eat a full breakfast" type of family? We are also staying at CBR but don't happen to be this way. We will just be taking some granola bars and picking up some fruit on the way.

As far as breakfast in the parks, as far as I know, there aren't a great number of places to eat in MGM. The one place that served breakfast is closed for rehab. I'm sure some of the other parks will have both sit down as well as breakfast on the run. I have seen other people mention that they were able to pick up muffins and pastries from carts in some of the parks, but I can't say from experience.

Personally, I don't want to spend precious early-morning touring time eating breakfast. But like I said, we're not breakfast people. Good luck!! When are you going to be at CBR...we are there May 16-23.

You can always pack a basket full of fresh fruits that keep - apples and oranges, etc. The some granola bars or prepackages muffins like Otis Spunkmeyer. Then just pick up your coffee/juice/milk either at the food court or somewhere in the parks. I know there is the bakery on main st. in the MK, a bakery at MGM, Epcot has tons of places that sell baked goods (like in the France Pavillion), and I'm sure AK also has someplace you can pick up beverages. If your a big breakfast eater and muffins and fruit just don't do it for you - post again and we'll try to make some more recommendations! :)

Thanks for the tips. We have a 2 yr old and I have packed a TON of snacks for her (they are going to think I am crazy at the airport)! I didn't think of packing extras for us as well. We all LOVE breakfast, but since time is limited with a 2 yr old, I don't want to waste it eating..especially this busy time of year. I guess we will probably just play it by ear and try to eat "on the run," at the bus stop, etc.
Another question...as far as priority seating reservations at restaurants go...how do you know when to make the reservations for? I have the time to call and schedule them all before we leave, but am unsure if we will be "able" to make it to eat at certain times. Our 2 yr old needs a nap around 1:00, so needs to eat around noon before she has a meltdown. Would you suggest just sticking to "counter service" and calling same day if reservations are needed? Will there be availability at most places same day? We are leaving on Friday. Thanks again

Mid to late Feb is not a busy time, so I would think you could get same day reservations most places. Try an early lunch, 11:00 or 11:15 at most sit down places will get you back to the room just in time for the 1:00pm nap.

Have a great trip.

Thanks Jeff. I appreciate the advice..will keep the priority seating phone number handy. Would you care to share your fav dining spots? Remember...we have a 2 yr old........

CeCe,

We visited last April with our 2 1/2 yr DD and just turned 5 yr DS. Our kids have not had much nice restuarant experience - they only have about 45 minutes attention span for meals - so we did not do any real nice places. If your daughter can handle an hour meal, go for it - you'll enjoy.

At MK we ate at the places in Frontierland and Tomorrowland. These places are counter service, but have indoor seating. Both are adequate - not great, but okay. I have heard the character meal at Crystal Palace - it has Pooh characters - has good food.

At MGM I would suggest 50s Primetime Cafe, it could be fun for your DD.

At AK you may want to try Rainforest Cafe - that should hold her interest.

I'm not sure at Epcot - maybe the food court at The Land, or the Land Grill if you want a character lunch. If you like seafood the Reef restuarant in the Living Seas would be good, assuming you can get a seat next to the aquarium so she could watch the fish.

Have a great trip.

Jeff

If you all like breakfast, but don't wnat to waste your park time with it, you might want to try one of these options. We have done both and they work. The first is to make the first PS of the day for a character breakfast within the park you will visit for the day avoiding EE parks. For example if you are going to the MK that day, get an 8:00 ps for CP. You will be in the park an hour early and be finished with your meal just as the park is opening. The 2nd way we have tried it is to eat a snack in your room in the early am, do EE or regular park entry and then do the last breakfast PS of the day. That way you get a lot of park time in early before the crowds and get your breakfast foods too. We find that with a big late dinner, we are often not hungery in the am and this works well for us.

Good eating!!!

we eat quick, on the go morning meals. In December we kept a cooler in the room. We had juice boxes and yogurt on ice and then cereal or granola bars bars and a piece of fruit. This was satisfying for our family. On those days we planned to have a relatively early lunch, (before 2:00). It worked great in terms of time and budget.
