Hello all,

our plan was to cruise around the hotels in the area while the kids are cruising away.

Want to know which are must see and any suggestions for our 2 ours of adult time.

Well, the Grand Floridian alone might take all your time - it's beautiful, and even has a few shops.

If you want to check out others, probably best to stick to the monorail - so the Poly and the Contemporary. Of these two, I'd say the Poly is best to explore. It has a great shop on the first floor (Boo-tiki), and a lush tropical lobby.

we had a really nice time riding the monorail around and to the Poly and having breakfast at the Kona cafe, it was our best breakfast that trip, maybe cause we were along ;) . then by the time we rode the monorail back it was time to pick him up.

My son will be doing the Pirate Cruise while we're there this October. I plan on zipping over to the MK to hit a ride or two that he won't do with me... yay, some solo time for mom!!!

The breakfast idea sounds appetizing since no kids present nice and relaxing. If I'm on the dining plan and already have my adr's all set up I
'll either need to use counter service or pay for additional meal. Is there good counter service or would you recommend adr for breakfast at ohana?

Or is there better bf at one of the other monorail resorts?

Michele

We stayed at the Floridian and shopped a little. Then we grabbed a snack and drink and sat outside relaxing and talking. It was a nice quiet break.

DS is doing the cruise, but I'll still have DD (2). If she was a bit older, I'd think about the character breakfast at the GF, but she's a "Rella" fan and I don't think she is there in the am. I think we'll take the monorail around and maybe grab some breakfast at one of the restaurants at the GF. Shopping sounds like a good idea, too.

the breakfast was REALLY nice. We sat and took our time and talked and we easily were there for an hour at least, just took our time. It was me and my husband.
If your looking for a meal with no kids and relaxing stay AWAY from Ohana's. We ate there with the whole family and LOVED it, but it is the opposite of quite and relaxing, very kid oriented and the characters are there.

We went to Kona's, it was table service, but the prices were reasonable and the food was EXCELLENT. We got a presspot of Kona coffee also, which was perfect and reminded me so much of our trip to Hawaii, Kona is the best coffee in my HO. the UG gives it good reviews if I'm not mistaken and that's why we chose it. We made our ADR for 30 minutes after drop off, that gave us enough time to ride the monorail clear around from the GF, and arrive a bit early.

I think a while back someone mentioned that there was a nice place to eat that was relaxing at the GF itself.

That is EXACTLY what we did last time - loved it!!!

We had ADR's at the Grand Floridian Cafe but decided at the last minute to go try out the Tonga Toast at Kona. It was wonderful! :thumbsup2
