What to do during blackout dates?

Hi all,

We're planning a visit this Fall, and we've already bought plane and MNSSHP tickets, so we're locked into those dates. However, it's one of the weeks that is exempt from free dining and it's starting to look pretty $$$. I've been trying to sniff out some options (Buying DVC points or buying into a timeshare off property) but I think it's too late to transfer the points, and we'd really like to stay on property if at all possible.

Can any of you Dis wizards out there give me a hand? We'd probably either need one room at a moderate or two rooms at a value.

Thanks!

You're right, it's too late to rent DVC points. There's really only spotty availability left. You'd probably have to change rooms or resorts several times if you went that route.

Best advice is to book the resort you can afford without any discount (be it onsite or offsite). The reason for blackouts are usually because Disney doesn't need any help filling the resorts that week.

Book what you can afford and fingers crossed for discounts. Are you an AAA member?

Also, you never know, but give Disney a call and see if there is a PIN code attached to your name :)
