What to do b/w Chef Mickey's and Poly water parade

Hi,

We'll be taking our little girls (4 and 2) and their grandparents to WDW in August. One night we have a 5:40 ps for Chef Mickey's dinner. If they can make it, I would love to take them over to the Beach at Poly to see the water light parade which (I think) starts at 9:00.

Will there be enough or too much time? And if there is too much time, any ideas of what to do in between? Also, will I be able to return to the BCV without calling a cab?

If dinner takes you to 7:00, you might be able to walk back to the MK for a little shopping, hop the monorail to the poly at 8:45, and be on the beach at the poly for 9:00.

If any of the parks are still open, you could take a bus to an open park and then back to the BCV. I don't know when MK closes. If MK is open, then you could catch a bus from the TTT which is walking distance from the beach at the Poly. Otherwise, you could take a bus to Downtown Disney, then a bus back to BCV.

I'm very tired, so I don't know if any of that made sense.

You'll have plenty of time in between!! Depending on how long you linger at Chef Mickey's. We are there usually for about an hour but it's just 3 of us. The electric water parade does run past the Polynesian, the Contemporary, over to Wilderness Lodge. You could take a monorail ride around the resort loop. Go around once and then the second cycle get off at the Polynesian. The kids could play on the beach for a bit. Bring bug spray tho. That's the only place I got bitten last August!!

As far as getting back to BCVs...you could take the monorail back over to the MK and then grab a bus to BC. Or you can watch the electric parade from the docks in MK (not as good a view) and catch the bus right there. Or, watch from the rear of the Contemporary and then walk over to MK and grab a bus. Otherwise, get a cab. If any of this isn't exactly correct, I'm sure someone will let us know.

Just an FYI, you can't catch a bus from the TTC to BCVs. The only resort buses at the TTC these days are for WL/FW.

I agree that you will have plenty of time. Assuming that you don't want to go into the MK, you could catch the boat over to WL or FW and check those resorts out a bit. From there, you could catch a bus to TTC and then make the short walk to the Polynesian that Gaiusrex was speaking of. Or you could catch the boat from either of those resorts to the MK and transfer to the little boat that goes to the GF and Polynesian. Or get on the resort monorail at the MK.

You could also explore the monorail resorts. From the CR, I'd probably take the monrail to the GF, explore and then take the launch from GF to the Polynesian.

If you won't have a car, catching a cab back is the easiest. If the MK is still open, you could go over and catch a bus to BCV. But with two tired little ones, a cab would probably be well woth it.

It sounds like you will have plenty of time between the two. I would suggest taking a ride on the monorail. You could go to the TTC and hop the monorail to Epcot (maybe 4 of you could be lucky enough to sit up front for the long ride). Also, the kids might enjoy a little time in the arcade at the Contemporary (we had a lot of fun there last year with our DD3).

Also, not sure if they still allow it, but depending on when the fireworks are, take the elevator up to California Grill and watch the fireworks from the roof. Again, not sure if they still allow you to do that, keep hearing conflicting reports.

When our kids were 2 & 4, one of my best Disney memories is of our kids playing on the beach at the Poly one early evening. Your kids will probably be pretty tired by 7pm, so I suggest just letting them rest/play in the sand. It will be relaxing for you as well . Enjoy!

Depending on when in August you go as long as you are planning to see the Electric Water Pagent you might want to stay and see Wishes also. The Poly beach is an excellent place to see them. My six year old nephew's additions to my post.

I like the Polynesian beach for the fireworks as well, and if we get there early enough, the swinging bench to the left of the watercraft docks is open.

I was very .. underwhelmed by the EWP.

we are looking to eat Dinner at Chef Mickey'son our first night and are looking to also go to the Poly to see the parade.
Do people know if they still have it in November (16th) and what time the fireworks are so maybe we could stay and see both?

We had PS for about that time, too, and ended up watching the Wishes from the 15th floor (where the music is piped in). Before Wishes, we took a tour around in the monorail and the boys got to ride in front with the conductor! Very cool for them.

What is the best way to do this?: We are getting into airport at 2pm, renting car, staying off site, i would like to go to chef mickeys for dinner that 1st night, i would then like to see wishes and the electrical parade..... is is do-able to go to dinner at chef mickeys for dinner (dont have my time yet) then watch wishes from contemporary as well as electrical parade (when does it go by contemporary) OR should i , after dinner, go to poly to see wishes and EWP from there.....would i be able to use monorail to go from contemporary to poly and then back to contemporary to get my car and go. If i cant use monorail, is it easy to go by car from resort to resort and would they let me park at the poly if i dont have a ressie there...... lots of questions, sorry, but i'm confused on whether i can do all this or not...thanks (going to WDW mid oct)

When you park at the CR for dinner, you'll probably be given a 3 hour parking pass.

You can certainly take the monorail to the Polynesian and back. Visiting the lobbies and shops of the Polynesian and Grand Floridian could be a fun activity if you have time to spare.

I don't know what time the fireworks are on your night but the schedule for October is up at the official Disney site. There is a viewing platform on the same floor as Chef Mickey's if that works out. I've also read that the view from the ferry boat dock at the Ticket and Transportation affords a good view of Wishes. Haven't tried that myself. That stop is also on the resort monorail circuit with the Polynesian being the next stop. The earliest the resort monorail stops operating is 11:00.

I don't think they will let you park at the Polynesian just to watch Wishes and the EWP. Sometimes it is hard to find a spot there if you're a guest of the resort so they discourage that out of fairness to paying guests of that hotel.
