What to do at HH in October?

I'm surprising my wife for her 40th birthday and am flying my sister in to watch the kids for a couple of nights and have ressies at HH.

What are some must see or must do things? She doesn't golf (unless you count minature golf ;) ), so that isn't an option.

What is a good, romantic restaurant to eat at?

Do I need ADR for dinner?

There's lots more to do on HH than golf! If she likes to shop, she will have plenty of places to do that. ;)

In October, the weather should be warm enough to comfortably enjoy the pools. The beach will definitely be great for sitting and/or walking, although swimming in the ocean may be iffy.

As far as ADR, since there is no full-service restaurant on property, they're definitely not needed. The resort has a walk-up window near the Mercantile and a "quick" service take out at the beach house. Hilton Head Island itself has literally hundreds of restaurants to choose from. There have been several threads on these boards listing peoples' favorites. Be sure to pick up the restaurant guide with menus in it when you check in to help you choose. Many restaurants there don't take reservations at all; even the ones that do will probably not be too crowded in October, so you should be fine with any spur-of-the-moment decisions. As far as a good, romantic restaurant, I'd go for Alexander's or Old Fort Pub. Both have excellent food and great views.

Have a wonderful trip!

P.S. I'm sorry I don't have any knowledge of HH, but I hope she doesn't visit the DIS boards or your surprise is blown.

What a great hubby!

My favorite restaurant these days is RedFish. No view, though.

I absolutely second the suggestion of Old Fort Pub for dinner. Request a table by the window. Beautiful views of the water and surrounded by big magnolia trees with Spanish Moss hanging from them. Very good food, as well! :flower:

I agree Old Fort Pub is great. When you check in they may have a coupon for there. Ask! Also make sure you get there in time for the sunset and call and ask for a window table.
