What to do at BCV if you don't go to the parks?

We just returned from 6 magical days at BCV. We would love to go back again next year, but really don't want to visit the parks everyday like we did this year. We're afraid it will be overkill and the parks will lose some of their magic. What else can you recommend? We are not big water people, although one day at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach would be great. A half at Stormalong Bay and maybe a few hours of mini golf. Any other suggestions?

You might want to think about exploring other resorts. If you have a car, you could head over to Celebration or explore the the outlets and malls of Orlando. There's also DD and all it's different areas.

DH and I love to do the "Monorail Resorts Tour". We usually park our car at VWL (DVC members have free valet!) and get on the boat for the MK, then we get on the monorail and get off at each of the monorail resorts, we shop, look around, checkout the pools, check out the restaurants.

Another thing we have enjoyed doing is going tot he different golf courses. DH likes to check out golf shirts, and is particularly thrilled if he finds a sale (or "special value" as WDW callls them!).

We have gone to Celebration and walked around downtown. Once we even toured the model homes when they were open. I don't know if they still are, but that was fun!

We generally go the outlets at least once while we're there. There is a Disney outlet in the outlet center very close to WDW (near Mary Queen of the Universe church), and then there are 2 Disney outlets in the Belz Outlet Center on International Drive. If you're a Birkenstock shoe fan, the Belz outlet center also has the only Birkenstock outlet store on the east coast. I have gotten some terrific bargains on Birks there over the years!

Of course, there's always Downtown Disney. We love to meander through the marketplace.

Mini golf is fun, as is relaxing by the pool. There's also SeaWorld, which I think is the 2nd best place in Orlando

We're tossing around the idea of going to BCV in Feb. and maybe Vero in July. Is Stormalong Bay heated in Feb? Is it too cold for SAB or Typhoon or Blizzard?

There is so much to do. Bush Gardens , Universal and so on. This is exactly what i plan to do everytime so i dont burn out disney. The only difference is I'd rather stay on disney property and go to those places then any where else.

You may consider staying at another resort... SSR is walking distance to DTD, which can provide hours of distraction without the need for an admission ticket. Other onsite activities... spend a day at the Wilderness campgrounds, character meals, Whispering Canyon (@ WL), etc...

In answer to your question about SAB, yes, the water is heated in the winter. I think the temp they heat it to is 80 degrees. It's wonderful! If you go in the summer to BCV, they actually air condition the water to keep the temperature constant. That's why it never seems to get warmer in the hot sun, otherwise it would begin to feel like the hot tub after a while.

Definitely go to the campfire program at FW. They have a sing along, a visit from Chip and Dale, a fire to make smores (kits can be purchased there), and a different movie every night. The best part is it's free. I also second doing a resort and DD tour.

Don't forget the mini-golf-within walking distance from BCV. Watch the Boardwalk Entertainers in the evening.

You can rent watermice. I did a no park trip in March (stayed at AKL) for 3 nights. We rented the watermice at VWL - they are so much fun! Or you could rent a surrey bike at the BW.
