What to do around Century City?

After our 3 days at Disney we will be moving to the Hyatt in Century City so my DH can attend a conference for 2 days. What can I do with my DDs' 5,2 around that area during the day? I had thought of driving out to the beach, but I haven't spent much time driving in LA and I am not sure if that is a good idea. Any ideas from some locals? Thanks!

The beach isn't too far away from there but mainly traffic is what makes it seem far away. There isn't much to do around Century City.

You'll be really close to the La Brea Tarpits. I recommend visiting them - there is also a nice park in the same area where the children can play.

You can take Santa Monica Blvd west all the way to the beach - you don't have to get on a freeway to do that.

I forgot about the tarpits. My girls would love those. I think we will do that one day and then the beach the next. Thanks!
