what to do after disney?

Our family will be staying on site for five nights (summer) then we plan on renting a car and going some place outside of orlando and some place kid friendly. we have never ventured to do this before...any and all suggestions are welcomed (I hear st. petes is nice) I would love suggestions of rental places as well.

Last summer we did St Augustine before Disney. There is a ton to do there and very family friendly. My favorite was the Pirate Museum.

I rented a house about a block away from the beach if even that far. We walked to the beach. I rented through AirBnB.com.

St Pete and CLearwater are nice, St Augustine is fun, we LOVE Vero Beach too, the Disney resort there is awesome!!!

We like St Augustine too. A beach is nice if you are not close to one at home. How old are the kids? We keep trying to work Lego Land in before DS outgrows it. SOOOO much to do in the Orlando area besides WDW if you are interested in that. Sea World, Universal, Water Parks, soooo much.

We really like Clearwater. Great beach and there is plenty of beach stuff to do in the area. The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a nice side trip too (Winter from Dolphin tale is there).

I have gotten awesome condos there right on the beach for very reasonable prices even in busy months. We really like it there for a few days.
