Last week before trip and wondering what to bring for the trip.
Staying at POR (moderate) and wonder if the rooms include the following:

Hairdryer?
Coffee machine? if so, should I bring filters, coffee, sugar, coffeemate or is it already there (quantity/replacement)?
Shower caps?
Are ice machines close by?

Thanks for any info you can give.

Hi there. I just got back from CSR, which is also moderate.
I am accustomed to business traveling and was disappointed in the service -- it struck me as disorganized and understaffed.

The room was somewhat ill-equipped. Soap and shampoo, there's a dryer, iron and ironing board. But no conditioner, lotion, shower cap, or other little goodies that most hotels provide as convenience.

There's a coffee maker with the little packets of powdered creamer, sugar, and premeasured cofffee. I always bring my own, however, and we got a fridge and I kept creamers in it. I saw signs for an ice machine, but never detected the machine itself.

Another thing that bugged me: I had to schlep our five bags myself. Nobody to help near the front entrance, even when I went to the bell desk to see if they could store them so we could eat dinner before going to our room. "The luggage room is closed. You'll have to take those outside and put them on the cart, ma'm." I was incredulous. So I hauled them all outside myself. IT was only about 9 pm.

Furthermore, two out of four days, our room wasn't made up by late afternoon. I had to call. The server who brought my room service breakfast once didn't speak english and mistakenly charged me for it when it should have been credited as a "wish." By the time I realized it, I didn't care anymore.

I stayed at POFQ n June> The room had a hairdryer, iron, and coffee maker! they give the pouches fr the coffee maker and packetsof sugar if you let housekeeping know they will replenish this as needed. I like coffee mate so I brought that with me. I never saw an ice machine but I never looked for one! I'm sure they were around!
The rooms did have shampoo and soap but not shower caps!:sunny: :sunny: tHE RESORT WAS GREAT!

I stayed POFQ in room 4144 and there was an ice machine around the corner from our room. I'm sure there were alot more machines throughout the resort.

Thanks a lot for info! I assume POR will be the same! That means less stuff to bring with us!
Hadn't thought about the iron but I do remember DM saying she wanted to bring one! Now she won't have too! But I must not forget the shower cap!;)

hi- we just got back from POR 2 days ago...here is some info i can give you...btw, we stayed in the mansions sections (magnolia bend), room 8924 i believe.

Hairdryer? YES, a small one attached to the wall, like the ones found in most hotels these days.

Coffee machine? YES, there was a coffee machine, and I believe all the supplies were there too (except milk obviosuly). just make sure the pot is clean, there have been reports of dirty pots on these boards.

Shower caps? NO, they dont give you those...you get soap and shampoo every day, thats about it.

Are ice machines close by? YES, we were about 6 doors from the ice vending machines. they are located on each floor in each section of the hotel...there was a snack machine and soda machine too next to them.

if you have any other questions about POR please feel free to ask!

Reedycreek...I do have a few questions for you. We're also planning to be in the Mansion section.
Any problems with the busses? Any tips to reduce delays, overcrowding and walking time?
Did you try POR's restaurants? How were they?
Were bugs (mosquitoes) a problem?
Thanks!

sure no problem. here you go:

Any problems with the busses? Not really, we used the SOUTH depot every time to board the buses (thats the main depot outside of the lobby). there are 3 other depots that are close to the hotel rooms, but we found it was best to go to SOUTH depot first to ensure we got on the bus. There was only one time we waited for 30 minutes to get to one of the parks (cant remember which). Other than that the wait was usually no more than 10 minutes. oh, and the epcot and ak buses also picked up at POFQ before POR so they were a little more crowded (they also dropped off there first on the way back). all the MK and most of the EPCOT buses were direct between POR.

Any tips to reduce delays, overcrowding and walking time? not sure if this pertains the the buses. if so, like i said try to stick with the SOUTH depot (near the lobby) for all you boarding. SOUTh was the first pickup at POR and if the bus was filled there, they would skip the other depots around the hotel. Overcrowding--not really, just try to get in front of the line when the bus comes. Walking time--prepare to walk a lot of POR! especially between the hotels and the SOUTH depot. we stayed at Magnolia mansion and it wook about 5-7 min to walk to the bus depot and about 5 to get to the lobby and foot court. some of the other mansions would be a longer walk for sure.

Did you try POR's restaurants? we tried Boatwrights at POR (the sit-down place). How were they? It was very good and the service was very friendly. We liked the food a lot. The food court was good too, although I liked the food court at POFQ (you can get there by a 5 min boat ride) for breakfast a little better.

Were bugs (mosquitoes) a problem? One night we found 3-4 of them in our room when we got back from the parks. Other than that I only got on bite and my DG got one. They were not obviously present outside at all.

enjoy your trip!!!

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate it! :)
Hope you're not having withdrawal symptoms! Heard that was common. ;)

the withdrawl is killing me! but these boards help me deal with it, and i just put in for leave in may to take a quick 4-5 day trip to WDW, so that helps too. enjoy your trip!
