Hi, we will be staying at OKW on rented points in December. Just wondering if you might have suggestions of what we should bring that will not be there.

Things like laundry soap/dish soap/scrubbie/coffee/filters...???

What else should we be bring on our own? I don't mind bringing extra stuff, as we will be shipping a box down in advance, and then we can leave some stuff at my MIL's when we visit before flying home.

Thanks DVC!!

Mary,

From your signature, it looks like your kids are quite a bit older than mine, but when I went to OKW in Jan, I brought both my kids big fluffy robes. I had so many people stop to ask me where I got them, because they wanted them to.

The weather wasn't overly warm when getting out of the warm pool, and the robes really took off the chill and my kids played for hours in the sand in them. I told a friend, and she took robes on her last trip in December and has stated she will never go without!

They will provide one small single use box of Tide in one bedroom villas or larger when you check in and on other days when housekeeping comes to replace towels (every 4 days). Also, you will get maybe one or two filter packs of coffee. If there are two, one will probably be decaf, one caf. Dish soap is provided. Dishwasher soap is provided in one bedrooms and larger. Trash bags are provided. Mickey shampoo (not the best) is provided as hand soap and bath soap. They provide a dish sponge.

If you are coffee drinkers, you'll want to bring more. You'll need salt, pepper, sugar. They used to provide these, but I don't think they do anymore.

You don't say what size villa you are in. If it is a 1 or 2 bedroom, you will have most everthing you need with the exception of coffee filters and salt and pepper, although there is often a few of those little packs there for salt, pepper and sugar.

Bring coffee and coffee filters and laundry detergent for sure. There's no salt/pepper provided, you may want them as well. There could be some sugar/substitute packets, but you can't count on them.

Hi, sorry I didn't say what accommodations I have, we will be in a one bedroom, so we will have the washer/dryer and kitchen area. We plan to have breakfast in room, and some lunch & dinners too, to save on food expenses.

Thanks for the suggestions!

If you think of anything else, let me know!

We were in January and we, too, brought coffee, half and half, sugar, laundry detergent. I put in a load of wash every night. It was great.
We also stopped at the grocery store and got breakfast items, soda, wine, munchies, etc. and we saved sooo much $$$ making breakfast each morning. As everyone says, it's AWESOME to get up, make fresh coffee and sit out on the balcony in the early morning. Just wonderful. It just started off the day so well. We had plenty of dish soap, etc. to my recollection.

I usually bring coffee, coffee filters, tea bags, sugar, Splenda, softener sheets, salt & pepper. We stop at the Publix on SR 192 and pick up laundry soap & snacks & whatever food we may want in the room...we usually just do breakfasts.

If you are going to be cooking in the room, you'll need to do a grocery stop, so I wouldn't pack too much food or heavy stuff. We have found the prices in the Publix to be pretty reasonable. Stay away from Goodings, just outside the gate at DTD...they'll soak you on prices. Publix is where the "locals" shop.

We always bring a kingsize sheet for the bed :) Got that great idea here at the Dis.

We do alot of cooking in the room too. If you need some quick and simple dinners, send me a pm.

There were no sharp knives in the 2BR I stayed in last month. My DH was coming down a few days later, so I had him pack in his checkd bag a Pampered Chef knife with the self-sharpening cover thingy. We were then able to slice pizza and apples and cheese to our hearts delight. Might not be an issue to many, of course. I was impressed with how well outfitted the kitchens are, really. Oh, there's no ice cream scoop either - have to use a big spoon, I guess, if you want ice cream in the room. I don't, personally- my mom bought it - I'd rather have a mickey bar in the park than a half gallon in the villa. :mickeybar

In addition to the things already mentioned, I bring:

foil, saran wrap and a few zip lock baggies (sandwich size and gallon size) for leftovers, cut up veggies etc.
dish cloth or handiwipe for wiping off table, counters etc.
sharp paring knife
few clothes pins or chip clips
stain stick for laundry
pop up hamper for laundry
extra washcloths (we hang and re-use our towels but like clean washcloths each day so I pack a few extra)

We love OKW. I hope you have a great trip.
