So we have secured our October WDW reservation through a DVC member. What kinds of essentials are included and what do we have to bring? I'm thinking like soap, shampoo, sheets and things like that. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Ray

Pack like you would for a normal vacation. You will get the standard toiletries, towels, and sheets like you would in a normal hotel room.

The only difference is that you only get trash & towel service on every 4th day of your stay.

Towels are provided but you may find you'd like more so you can pay for an extra towel package ($6 I think gets you 4 extra bath,2 face & 4 wash cloths) or bring more from home. Pool towels are available at pool so don't use towels in your villa for pool.

On stays of 7 nights of less Trash & Towel Service is provided on Day 4 (count check in day as Day1): all soaps, shampoo, paper products, coffee pak is replenished & fresh towels are provided and Mousekeeping will remove trash ( we throw away our trash daily - there are extra liners at bottom of each trash pail ) We bring shampoo from home because small bottle provided doesn't go far with a family the size of ours.

Full housekeeping service is for stays of 8 nights or more : Full Cleaning will be on Day 4, Trash and Towel Service on Day 8.

You can pay for full cleaning if you want, price is according to villa size and you must notify Mousekeeping a day in advance.

Enjoy your DVC :goodvibes !!!

Normal hotel room stuff. No sheets or towels. Are you thinking it is like camping? Rest assured, all basics and then some are provided. We do tend to pack some dry good foods or order from garden grocer. But keep even that to a minimum. Maybe some chips, crackers and cereal. And we bring whatever cosmetic stuff we would normally bring. That's it. Have fun!

If you are a coffee drinker like DH, bring basket filters and coffee (we buy the disney blend at the resort) and the (disposable) to go coffee cups with lids. Since you are given only one sigle load size of Tide, I always bring my 3 in 1 Purex laundry detergent/sheets. We also have purchased Mickey ice cube trays to bring with us each trip and this last trip we bought the vinylmation ice cube trays that we will continue to bring them back for future trips. We have learned the hard way to always bring tylenol, dayquil, dramamine, allergy meds and that sort of stuff.

You didn't mention what size villa you are staying in. If 1 BR or larger, then you will have a full kitchen with everything you need to cook (except the food!) Plus you have a microwave, dishwasher, and toaster. If you clock on the resorts at the top of this site, you will find loads of info on your room/resort. Have fun!

We're in a 2 bedroom villa at VWL. I heard you can get groceries delivered from local Orlando grocery stores. What's the best way to handle that?

You only buy these points once -- they are then allocated on a yearly basis until the contract's end. For example, if you buy 250 "vacation points" in your initial purchase, you will receive 250 points each year to "spend" on your vacation accommodations.

They will provide Sheets, small shampoo/conditioner, soap and if you have a washer/dryer in the unit, tide. Also if there is a kitchen dish soap, dishwaser soap etc. Just be aware that they only change the sheets and clean on the 4th day of your trip. If I was you I would bring extra shampoo/conditioner they are small bottles.

They do not change the sheets on day 4 of a 7 night or less stay. Trash & Towel service does not include linen changes or a full cleaning. It has been described above.
We always bring coffee and basket type filters. You only receive 1 starter package of coffee on arrival and T & T day.
Although we don't really cook on vacation, we always order groceries from wegoshop.com. We have used them 6 times and I highly recommend them. You type in your order on their website. I prefer this to ordering from a "Virtual Aisle" at garden grocer. You name your brands and your sizes and you tell them whether or not you want substituitons if necessary. I have had them call my cell from the store to ask about substitutions. The price of the items is exactly what the item cost - there is no markup. Their delivery fee is higher than Garden Grocer, but Garden Grocer marks up each item. With wegoshop.com I have always had a 30 minute delivery window, right to my villa. They have always been on time. Garden Grocer gives a 2 hour window and usually delivers to Bell Services. Then you have to call Bell Services to bring it to your villa (and tip them too).
This is a good service is delivery is scheduled before you arrive. Both are reputible companies, but I prefer wegoshop.com
We usually order: Case of water, coffee, orange juice, fruit, breakfast items, cheese and crackers, soda, snack foods etc. We have always saved over the cost of buying these items at the Disney store.

Check out gardengrocer or wegoshop for food items, select your things on line, place your order and they deliver. We have used garden grocer a couple of times, their site will explain everything, no experience with wegoshop but have heard good reviews. Trash and towel on 4th day as explained above, whats going on with vvpeter??? We had 6 in a 2bdrm at OKW in Jan and did'nt have a problem with the amount of shampoo and soaps provided, your going to love the 2bdrm, have a great time.

Lots of good advice. As mentioned, they only give you a starter pack of coffee and do not give you enough for your entire trip (unlike regular Disney resorts that will replenish if you pay cash). Same for laundry detergent -- you get a starter box and that is it. No softener. However, for dishwasher detergent, they will replenish that. Is your stay less than 8 days? Folks could outline the services more if we knew the length of your stay. As for Towel and Trash day, which is generally on day 4, most folks covered that, but if your trash needs to be emptied before that day, you can walk it to the trash/recycling closet and take care of it yourself anytime you need to. There is a vaccum in the unit if you wish to vaccum when you tidy up during your stay (I think a broom and dustpan too).

Thanks for all the great advice! We are staying for 6 nights. How about beer and wine? I'm not familiar with the alcohol laws in FL regarding delivery.

I pack the Purex laundry sheets--detergent and dryer sheet all in one.

If you're a coffee drinker, bring a mug or plan to get one there--the ones in the villas are too tiny! They're like little coffee shooters.

Night light if the kids need one.

I pack the packets of powdered drink mix that you can pour into a bottle of water and bring those along to the parks.

Have a great trip!

I pack a couple of lunchbox/small coolers that hold 4 to 6 bottles of water. I freeze a bottle or 2 then pack them up for everyone to carry a few that way we have cold water all day:thumbsup2

We always pack snacks like granola bars, pop tarts, things that don't weigh much and fit in odd places in our suitcase. I always bring powered laundry detergent too. They don't give me enough as we pack 4 days worth of clothes and I do laundry while there. It doesn't take long to do the laundry versus packing and lugging around 10 days of clothing. We also pack our own toiletries - shampoo, make up, and such.
