What to bring into parks?

I always have a bag - water bottle, wallet, sunscreen, phone charger, place to stow my hat and sunglasses when indoors and on rides, ibuprofen, dinner pills, poncho, etc etc etc. Carrying a bag never bothers me.

When we went our portable battery charger kept getting us sent to the go through your bags line so we stopped bringing it with us and didn't get sent to that line again. I always bring spare socks for me just in case. I also bring one of the stick balms for blister prevention and bandaids.
You can just hold it out in front of you when you go through the metal detectors like you do with a phone, i did not have any problems doing that.

Thanks for the tip! They didnt tell me that was an option. Will give it a go since last time if it weren't for the DVC lounge I would've for sure had a dead battery

Yeah just hold in your hand, over your head. Sounds silly but the scanner pinpoints where the item is. So if they see that the scanner isn't flagging anything in your bag, you don't have to go into the bag check line. We do it with chargers, umbrellas, etc

Thanks so much! Learn new stuff on the boards every day :)

I suggest some cash. Twice, on different trips, the system was down and not only could they not process my purchase with my magic band, they couldn't take a credit card! First time it happened (2015 or 2016?) I was out of luck, but when it happened in 2019 we were prepared. My husband, kids, and I each carried a few twenties.

Of course, that was a while ago and they may have a different way of handling things, so ymmv.

I get it...but it has worked for us. So it will depend on the person...but we are in our early 40's so never even thought to have the actual ID.
You've gotten lucky. If they get spot-checked not asking for it, there are big penalties up to and including losing the license to sell at that place.

My dad and I went to a wine shop that he goes to frequently. He is CLEARLY over 21 (he's 83 but doesn't look it) as am I (53 but also don't look it - no one ever believes me) and they know him, but they asked us both for ID that day. The guy at the counter said "We have to ask. If we get caught, we get fined." It's the same for any place that sells alcohol.
