Hi All!

I'm new to the forum and have found myself researching for HOURS! :) I just can't seem to get enough Disney Advice.

In May my Husband and I will be going with our 1 year old Son. This will be our first trip with a child and I am feeling a little stressed! I have been looking for a post on what to bring in the stroller and into the park. I just don't want to forget anything and want to be prepared as possible.

I would LOVE your tips and packing list so much!!!

May 8-16, Driving 1083 miles one way, DDP, Caribbean Resort.

Bring cool comfy all in one knit shortalls/rompers. I would bring two or three extras in the stroller. Kids sweat and have accidents out of our control. Pack each clean outfit in a ziploc bag so the "contaminated" soiled outfit can be exchanged into the bag. Also by keeping the clean outfit in a ziploc bag you keep it clean and dry from accidents such as spilled drinks.

When we went with my 13 month old in January I made sure that I had snacks for him as well as a full sippy cup plus a full bottle of water. And of course a change of clothes, and 4 diapers and a package of wipes. Oh and make sure that you bring enough wipes with you! I made the mistake to pack light and ended up having to buy 2 packs from the hotel shop, at $2.97 for 16 wipes! The exact same pack is only .$97 at walmart.
I made sure that I did NOT leave the room without those things in his stroller.

Loose fitting clothes are great. One piece even better.

What we do is pack our normal diaper bag with
1 extra outfits
Extra Diapers
Cream
Baby Pain Meds
Extra outfit for Mom and Dad
Bottle Water

** The larger bag stays in the stroller and is hardly ever touched.

Then we use one of those drawstring bags for the stuff used often
3 diapers (restock from the larger bag at lunch)
Travel Wipes
1 Romper
Sunscreen
Snack
Sippy

This 2nd bag works out great for us. We just grab it quick for bathroom breaks and if we're heading on a ride it goes easily on our back. I can't stand messing around with a large bag during changes so always use this one.

My biggest hint - Silly one. But I love Disney for this fact. Tons of changing rooms in the mens bathroom. When we had our first we could never find changing tables in mens rooms, of course there are family areas now but when we made our 1st trip to Disney 3 years ago we totally took advantange of my DH changing my son. He was in and out so quick. Even now with many places having the family rooms my DH was just joking that he'll look forward to helping me more again this trip with our DD..

I'm not normally a big packer but with a young one we always pack a light change of clothes for us too. We did have an accident last trip my my son leaked through his diaper and did get my DH shirt wet. So it was nice for that. Nothing fancy just a light shirt that can be folded small.

Good luck, personally I think its really easy traveling with the baby. We're heading back next month with a 20 mon old. Hopefully she is as good as her brother was at this age.

I went there with my son for his first birthday and when he was 20 months. Going back again in April (yipee!!). He will be 3 and my second son will be 1. Don't forget to bring a hat. The sun can be very hot. Stroller advice: tie a bright scarf around it. So when the cast member wil move it, it will be easier to find. Also buy a few pin with small flashing lights at your dollar store. Very usefull to help you find your stroller at night when its dark. Finally, buy a plastic cover for the stroller (I found mine at babies r us, and saw them at Walmart too...). Leave your stroller under a tree, it is very useful to prevent a few surprises from the birds... Also, if it looks like it will be raining, use it. Your baby will be much happier in a dry stroller than in a wet one...

Try not to stress about it. Just bring minimum to get by. There is already enough stress with the trip (travel, etc.) so try and reduce it. Just bring what you normally would if you took him out for the day at home.

I would try and find a stroller fan, we went in June when our son was 14 mos old, and it was a life saver for us, knowing that he was cool and comfy. We got it online at walmart.com , I think onestepahead.com has them too. Disney does sell them, but I don't think they're as good as the one I got from walmart, and it was much cheaper.

We bought the Disney one when we took DS4 months - it is adorable, but you can't really feel any air coming out even if you're directly in front of it! Make sure you have plenty of diapers - more than you think you'll need. I ran out one day at the park - luckily a nice Mom saw me rummaging through my diaper bag and offered me one of her pampers! Definitely, snacks, drinks, extra outfits, sunscreen, blanket for air-conditioned attractions, toys for when he's sitting in stroller for a while. Have a great time!

just went last wk..my son is 16 months, we brought..

cuppie
diapers
wipes
rash gaurd
snackies
sunblock
extra outfit
sm juice for him

A couple of flat 1 ply cloth diapers in a ziploc. These are HUGELY useful. Some of the things I've used them for include scrubbing up nasty spills, use as an extra bib (bring a couple of diaper pins, too), use as a sun drape for the stroller hood, or soaked in cold water to tie around your neck or just place on your pulse points. They are also good to use as towels after a splash in a fountain -- they are very soft, absorb like mad yet dry very quickly.

With a half-dozen safety pins you can even make 2 of them into an emergency spare outfit, LOL.
