We have a reservation at Westgate Vacation Villas and I was wondering if there is a particular section to ask for? Are some parts newer than others?
What about parking? Easy access to buildings or will we have to walk a long distance? Just curious. All help greatly appreciated!!

We own at Westgate (the Villas) and have never had any trouble w/ parking. The spaces are right outside the condos. Sometimes, especially if you get in late at night, you might have to park several doors down, but that's about it.

I don't know about the sections, they are always doing some kind of renovation. You could try asking for a newly renovated unit.

Westgate is a nice place, just say "NO" to the maintanance meeting!!!

We own at Westgate villas too. I wish they would take no for an answer (about maint. meetings) but they have gone as far to tell me that if I don't go to the maint. meeting, that ANYTHING they find in the room that so much as has a scratch on it, they can charge me for it!! you don't want to even know about the argument I got into with one of the managers over the maint. meeting! they forced me to attend with threats about charging me for scratches etc.. I honestly thought she was going to hit me. I didn't want to go because it was my Birthday and had other plans and didn't want to waste time on another sales pitch. I was going to call the police but instead called Interval (we exchanged out week for a different week) and they told me that they have had so many complaints over their harrassing owners to attend maintenance meetings that its a wonder they still have their 5 star rating. she suggested I call my attorney and file charges! I should have, but decided to just put my week up for sale. I have had it with Westgate.
I have owned there since 1991. its just been the past few years that they have become so mean and hatefull.
Also, I have noticed the units are EXTREMLY dirty. I found brown slime in the coffee maker (the part inside where you fill with water not glass carafe) and hair all over the kitchen floors. it was not swept for what looked like a long time. I even found a spider in my bed. I requested a quite room in away from a pool, and they gave me a room right over a pool.
I honestly think they have a conspiracy going where they try and get people who have owned there for a long time to hate the place and want to sell at ridiculas low prices so they can RE-sale the unit again.
Anyways, I wish I could sell it. I would rather sleep in my car than to stay at Westgate again! I have not used my timeshare week in two years going on three because I dread staying there. I have people from timeshare sales places call my home two or three times a month wanting to sell it, but want me to pay to list it. I believe Westgate is behind all this.
I could go on and on, but I'm making myself mad thinking about it! I hate Westgate. worst money I ever spent! ugh!

I am so sorry you are unhappy with your Westgate unit. I own there also. Bought a resale. We told them we would give them 15 minutes for the maintenance review, they told us thanks and we were free to go. No review, no threats. As far as unclean. Never had a problem. If I find a problem, I call and it is taken care of.

If you are trying to sell your unit, join TUG. It's $15. a year and you get a free ad. Westgate is not behind the timeshare resales charging you money. It is just a scam. They take your money and very rarely sell anything. If you price it right, I am sure you can sell it.

Do you have to go to a mtg if you are only there for two nights?

I know there are several Westgates...is this the one on Turkey lane (?? accuracy of address. I don't have the exact address with me)

We stayed at Vacation Villas for a week earlier this month on a RCI trade. We had a 2 bedroom in building JJ. The type of unit you have will pretty much dictate where you will be I think. It was an older unit, fairly worn but comfy. We had maint. come the first night to fix the broken vertical blinds. We ended up using a sheet for a blind that night and they fixed it in the morning. We also had to have housekeeping bring sheets since there was only a twin sheet for the full sofa bed. If you are getting a 2br, ask for an end unit. They are significantly wider. My dad came up for 1 night and had an end unit and it was much more spacious than ours. At least 4 or 5 feet wider, which made a huge difference in the very narrow galley kitchen.

We were not overly impressed with the service. Our "representative", Bryce, took us to the unit and showed us around and gave us his cell number to call if we had any problems. We didn't get our midweek cleaning that he said would be on Wed. at 12:45 (he even wrote it down). We called the front desk and they said we had to call Bryce, which we did. They did charge us $.75 for the call, which is beyond ridiculous. Bryce also gave me a quote for the "owners price" for the one night for my dad but I was able to get a 2br for $10 less than the 1br he quoted me by calling their reservations direct. Bryce called to schedule the "maintenance meeting" with my father-in-law (they are the RCI owners) but on the day he came by and said he was really busy and would call us the next day(Thurs) and that housekeeping would definitely be there on Thurs. Well, housekeeping never showed and Bryce didn't call until Sat. am as we were packing to leave. He thought we were leaving on Sunday (we arrived a day late due to Katrina related gas shortage) and wanted to come right over for the maint. meeting. My normally very calm FIL read him the riot act. My DH said he felt like he was a teenager again getting a talking to!

We did enjoy our week for the most part. We parked both vehicles right in front of our door for the whole week and the kids loved the pools and the sand volleyball pit right outside our patio. There are a ton of pools, so you will be close to one no matter where you are. We had a 5-10 minute walk to the "guest house" to buy a paper, 5 minutes to the "activity center", and 10 minutes to the paddle boats.
