what time

sorry if this has been posted before but what is best time to arrive to queue for dc i know it opens at 8.30 we have booked for a tuesday if this makes any difference. we want to book the dolphin swim for the best time to maximize our visit. all input welcome, we were hoping to do our ten year vow renewal but they only do this on feb 14 has anyone done a special package such as proposal. thanks

In July we arrived at DC shortly after 8am because we wanted to already be in line when they opened @ 8:30. They were already open and had assigned some people to swims! Ours was assigned for 8:45 so we barely had time to get our locker and bearings and it was time to jump in the "cool" water. It turned out to be a good time to do the swim because all during the day we kept seeing people hunting down their own family members and yelling "you missed the swim!!!" because they got preoccupied with snorkeling, etc. Also, try to get a mornng swim time because there are afternoon thunderstorms that roll through and shut down the park...they made us stay in one of the changing rooms or under the locker canopy until they rec've the "all clear" over 2-way radios. Not sure exactly how they handle cancelled swims, but have read somewhere on these boards that they might ask you to come back another day for your swim. Have fun!

Arrive early, even if you're not in the first group.
Yes, it's only a thousand people allowed in, but at 08:30am, everyone shows up, the line to get in is long, and everything backs up. If you show up at 08:30am, you'll wait longer to check in, and wait longer at the snorkle station to pick up your gear bag.
