Hi, I'm here at DL and will be trying to catch a soft opening of WoC if possible. Can anyone tell me what time they usually start or is it just random times? Thank you for any thoughts.

As far as I know so far, there is no dates or times on the WOC show as of yet. Everyone is still waiting on the news!!! I know I am sitting on the edge of my chair. Recent rumor had it that it was starting between May 12-18th but if that were to happen we would have had news by now.

I was on DCA's site today, and it says on there June 11th, but that's the official date, not the soft openening.

Mystic Path, you're right. If there were any soft openings, then it would have been on these boards. I had heard rumors at DL today that the show had been running recently, but a CM wouldn't confirm anything for me. I was just trying to get a sneak peak, but I guess I'll just have to plan another trip later when it is officially up and running, thank you for your responses!

No Problem... Think of it this way. As disappointing as it could be if you missed it this trip for some reason, Disney will have time to tweak it and fix the bugs if there is any, including crowd control before you get there. It would give you a more relaxed feeling and something to look forward to in the next vacation.

I know they have been running the show often after park closing and doing a complete run through of it. People on the internet have posted their videos from the window of the their hotel room at the Grand Californian. Maybe this is what you have heard of.

What specifically having to do with the WoC is he wrong about? :rolleyes1

Agreed. he may not have been wrong. Maybe it was set for those days but other things got in the way and the dates had to change and now they are unsure.

If their is a public soft opening, most likely, nobody will know until the very day of. Outside of the people planning it. They may not tell CM's the exact day only that it will be. For example telling them somthing like: this week, during the next 4 days, after this weekend.

The idea is not to let people know so they can make plants to get to the park. The idea is to do a light run with only the people who are there.

I suspect the day they do one it will hit Disboards at about 11am PCT.

I am to the point where I totally believe this would be most likely. Its way too big of a show, and people will FLOCK when they hear the news. Disney wont want that. They will want to keep it as simple as possible before the real headache starts.

Before the headache starts? :rotfl:

Correct me guys if I am wrong and put me on the right page... But did I hear correctly that when the WOC premiers they are going to do 3 showings a night and start the shows at 8pm, but shut the park down a bit early?

I am not going to get my hopes up, but the park hours for the week I am going on my trip has changed. DCA was open till 9pm and now it's 7pm. :confused3

With all due respect, I appreciate you pointing out when something regarding the WoC isn't true however it doesn't make sense to point it out unless you are willing to share correct info. To say Al Lutz is wrong implies you have information. :upsidedow

FWIW, we were at the Grand Californian in the new wing with the DVC rooms from 4/26 through 5/3 and got a "theme park" view room. We also noticed that California Adventure hours had been changed from a 9 PM closing to a 7 PM closing and thought we'd be able to watch the perfect view we had of the WOC lagoon from room 6504.

We saw quite a bit of the show, but it was always lacking something: either the water screens, the fire, or the all important sound was missing. The testing was mostly nonstop from about an hour after the park closed right through the night until daybreak. I spent many, many wee hours on my balcony waiting for the full run through, and most nights only got about 3 hours sleep. We did get the sound one morning beginning at 7:06 AM after the sun had come up.

There was only one full run that I saw with all of the elements in the show. It was on Thursday night, April 29 (or rather April 30) at 3:45 AM. I finally got smart in the second half of our trip and left the balcony door open a few inches and simply went to bed at normal time---no way I would sleep through that powerful sound system should they do a full run. But it didn't happen again.

On the positive side, I saw many, many programming and testing segments that were interesting to me (old IBM employee here with an MS in Comp Sci). Lots of programming hours going into this show. Some things were a bit tedious though. Also very interesting was the programming they were doing with the lights and patterns on the Mickey Wheel.

We asked everyone who had a pulse when the run throughs were going to happen, but everyone from the CMs cleaning the fencing around the area to several 'management' looking types with business attire at the scene all gave the 'we don't know' answer. There was only one female 'management type' that told me 'we don't say'.

Being there and seeing the power of the jets and the expansiveness of the color and fire effects is impressive. It is going to out do Bellagio fountain shows by quite a bit. It seems as if the sound system at WOC will be as (if not more so) impressive as that at Bellagio. The WOW factor is going to be significant.

May you have better luck catching a full run through than we did. However, you are there a full two weeks later than we were, and from my understanding, they should be offering shows at least to CMs by this time. But this project has been running behind, so who knows?

Good luck!

You probably did hear that. Al Lutz from micechat reported that. There's a lot of discussion about that and the hours on the WoC superthread. Probably around page 9 or 10.
