What time to catch Mears before flight home

I just made a ressie with Tiffany town car. We decided not to take the shuttle- too much of a hassle.
Here's my question:
They emailed me that my reservation request had been received- but no confirmation number or anything. Do they send you one? Also- does anyone know how to go about paying by credit card? I'm assuming you can do that. If not- no biggie!

I am traveling with a group of 12 and when the time comes think I am going to book Mears Shuttle Service. IfI remember corectly from when I went with my family they take you directly to your hotel from the airport. Plus they hold a lot pf people so I think it would be the best. The only thing that bugs me about Meras is ot takes like an hour for them to get there for you at the aiport...they are never on time.

If anyone can suggest a better means of transportation for such a large group let me know. Thanks.

We had a party of 13

We used Your (terrible) ride
We had one 10 passanger van and a towncar. It worked very well and is still much cheaper than using mears.

towncar + van ='s $160.00 with out any coupons
mears for 12 ='s $312.00 with coupons

we are using Tiffany towncar on our next trip.

Never ever again will I use Your Ride

To help answer a few of your questions:

1. We have used Tiffany several times and enjoyed the convenience and service each and every time. We've used Mears twice prior and would never use them again.

2. They do wait by the elevator with your last name on a sign, assist you with your luggage, and take it to the towncar.

3. There is not confirmation number sent via email just an email noting receipt of your ressie. If you are uncertain, just call for confirmation (which I do anyways 24 hrs. prior to leaving just in case).

4. To pay by credit card, give the driver your credit card information. However, the preference is you pay your tip "in cash" directly to the driver. They would rather you not include that on your charge.

5. We tipped the driver approximately $10 each way (4 people traveling). Don't tip all at once, you may not have the same driver on the return trip.

6. We did not have to call prior to check out to confirm a pick up time. You might have to if you are a first time user--not sure.

Hope this helps everyone. Clearly any towncar service is better than Mears under any circumstances based on my experiences.

I think most towncar comanpies charge between $80 & $90 round trip per car/van.

Thats how I got the $160 price.

I used Your (terrible) ride in sept.

next time i'm using Tiffany towncar. I would you Fl tours since they help this site but they don't take credit cards and I learned from Your_ride that I must pay with credit cards for some proctection.

Cartier has a van that holds that holds up to 27 people-you have to call for rates 1-866-407-1515

Tiffany is another option as is FL tours and Happy Limo. The now infamously bleeped other option, Your Ride, is up to you but know they have been banned form these boards for shady business practices (against the boards)

You would be wasting your money using Mears with that many people as you pay per person. It only becomes cost effective when you have just a couple of people in your party. Of course thers always the hassle factor of Mears. Many stops at other hotels along the way and pick up 4 HOURS (!) before your flight home. That was my issue with them. That blows pretty much your whole last day and imagine if you had an early morning flight! :earseek:

A towncar service is one flat fee that you can split with the rest of your party. No brainer.:D Good luck! And have a great trip!

What is the most you can do in the town car. We have 10 people total and it sounds like we should be ding that instead of the mears.

It depends on what you rent and from who. Most services have different size vehicles. Vans usually seat anywhere from 6-14 or as many as 27. You can also get a towncar or a limo.
Check out their websites. They should have a rates page or a number you can call.

are some that are recommended by these boards.

The Bleeped one is "Your Ride". I probably confused you with the name of the company. Its actually called Your Ride. My bad.:D

If you have more than 3 adults in your party a towncar service may be more cost-effective as well as more convenient. Some towncar services also use vans, so large parties might be able to use them. Call and ask.

I usually travel alone or with 1 other person and I think the cost difference in that situation is enough that I'll wait for the Mears shuttle.

I don't think a pickup 4 hours before a flight is necessary, even if you do stop at other resorts. I usually request a pickup 3 hours prior to my flight. They warn me that it isn't the recommended time period and they won't be responsible if I don't make my flight, but I haven't yet had a problem making it.
