What time is your room usually ready?

It seems like we always have bad luck when it comes to getting in our rooms. Wah, wah, wah. ;)

Seriously though. Last trip with my sister at SSR in May, we had early flights and checked in around 11 am. Now I didn't expect our room to be ready that early, but the CM did give me a moment of hope when he said "WAIT!...I think it's...Oh no...it's not ready yet." We didn't get the text until about 4:30 pm.

In February we checked into BLT after our Disney Cruise. One of the studios was ready but the other wasn't ready until 5:30 or 6:00 pm. Grrrr.

Vero Beach in December was a bummer. We sat around the pool all afternoon waiting for the text. The place definitely didn't seem full either. Finally around 5:30 pm I went to the front desk. Apparently it had been ready a while but someone else got the text.

My husband and I are taking our two sons and two of their friends to OKW in less than two weeks. We have the early direct flight which will get us in at 10:00 am. I'm going to suggest the kids just go straight to a park after checkin. I'd like to hit the grocery store with hubby around 2:00 or 3:00 pm in hopes that our 2 bedroom will be ready when we get back, but I fear the food is going to be spoiling in the car.

I won't go into the luggage delivery issues I have had with ME. (I don't let them touch it anymore.)

So is it just me? Do have a curse on me or is this something that is the norm?

We've gotten into a room as early as 10:00 in the morning, and as late as 6:30 in the evening. Frankly, our three OKW stays found us in our room at 4:30 at the earliest. OKW was the 6:30 pm one mentioned above.

But you can check in at any time, and bell services will store your perishables for you in a cooler if need be. No need to leave it in the car.

Room readiness is hit or miss at all DVC resorts. Personally, we plan on a 6:00 pm availability and are happy if we get in earlier. The good news is that Disney does have ways to handle luggage or groceries if you have to wait.

You can improve the odds of getting into a room quicker if you don't make requests. Then when you check in, you can politely indicate that you are happy to accept the first available room in your booking category.

We never expect to get in before 3...in all our trips we never have...but have gotten there early and just hang out at the pool!!

I think we most often get into our villa by 2PM. As someone mentioned, we've had our best luck at OKW, 10, and 9:30 AM for our only 2 stays there. Lately, our worst luck has been at BW, 6:15 and our room not ready but finally the CM offered us another one.

That's what we did at the very full SSR pool--for a few hours--with our Northeastern spring white skin--in 90 degrees--listening to the DJ blast the Electric Slide--over and over... We should have gone to the Congress Park pool, but I was sure that studio would be ready any minute! haha.

I think we have had a lot of pixie dust because we have almost always been able to have our room between 1 and 2pm. Only once did we have to wait - it was at BLT - and we actually had to go ask them if the room was ready. The response - oh someone should have texted you ages ago! Argh! But we figured it was probably our turn to have a late check-in! :)

Bobbi...too funny, because that's the exact opposite of our experience. BWV we've gotten into at least three times before noon and always by 3:00 pm. As noted, OKW has been our biggest challenge.

It really is a luck of the draw kind of thing. :confused3

See, I was reading your post wrong! Getting old(er) isn't for sissies!

From reading here, I guess we've been so lucky. Only once did we have to wait til after 4:00pm. Then, when we went back to the front desk to check if perhaps we hadn't received the phone call, they noted that it was 4:45 by then and gave us another room that was ready.

I agree with the others who have said they've gotten in to their rooms in the morning at times, afternoon other times, and of course there are those times that you dont' get in until the early evening. I dont' think there's any rhyme or reason to it. It just depends on how many rooms are occupied, and how many rooms are getting changed over that particular day. I always expect late afternoon and that way if I get in earlier than say 5:00 I'm pleasantly surprised.

We've gotten into our rooms by around 2 or 3 (BWV) and at 11 am (GCV). We've had great luck so far. However, we have only stayed in studios, and I wonder if it is easier to get into studios - less space to clean. 2BRs would take longer to clean, plus you have to wait for the previous occupants to vacate; if one side is vacated earlier than the other side, you have to continue to wait.

I hope you have great luck on your upcoming trip! :wizard:

You just never know. People complain about GCV that points rooms are left for last but ours was ready at 9:30am! The people must have checked out very early! My friend checked us in at 7:00am.

DW and I have gone at least three times per year since '93. We get the room ready upon arrival @09:30, 3 out of 5 trips. The latest we have gotten a room was 17:30, when I talked with the front desk about it, they stated that due to a flu bug running though staffing, most of the resorts were short-staffed that week and having to move multiple people around to cover the rooms.

I have gotten into a GV at OKW at 7:30am during Christmas week and have had to wait until 5 at BCV during a much less busy time. Other trips have been all over the place but most times we have had a room before 4. The next to last trip we were told the room (at OKW) was ready only to get there and find the mousekeeper just starting to clean it. When we went back to the desk at the HH they found us another room that was ready and we were very happy with it.

The first room met our two requests of being on the top floor and being near a pool. The second was in building 46 and was even better although the walk to pool was longer. We don't plan on getting into the room when we check in early but it is nice when we do. We plan to go to a park, DTD or the pool and when we are done the room has always been ready. We have never had any luck getting a text or phone message however and I do wish they would improve on that.

We've stayed at SSR, OKW and AKV and all of our times there we were able to check in before 1:00 pm. Our latest visit to OKW was in the last month and we had no issues.

One of the nicest CMs who checked me in was at SSR in November. We had a treehouse for just one night before a cruise. I got to SSR around 10, and it wasn't ready, but when she saw that it was only for one night, she went to find one that was ready because we didn't have much time to enjoy it. I thought that was so very nice of her. The family arrived from Boston via the Auto train about a half hour later, and we really had a wonderful day at the treehouse and enjoying SSR.

drum roll please...finally, our studio was ready @ BCV last Friday when we arrived before 10 am.:banana:I had completed online checkin & for once didn't make any requests:goodvibes. btw, so hot we spent most of the day @ SAB;)

We must vacation at the wrong times of year. :confused3

We average 2 or 3 trips to WDW each year and our rooms are ready on average at 4:00. Earliest was 2:00, latest was 7:30.
