What Time is the 4 o'clock Rain? -- Updates 11/2-4 -- Tim's surprise and Marco&Recap

Hey there Kathy. Makes me so sad for you my friend that you have to go through the sorrow for your Cookie.

I think we were seeing Voices of Liberty at the same time seeing when we arrived in France together.

And your memory is correct, we did get a photo with the three of us together. It was nice to meet Marilyn as well. :)

I feel like I was almost part of your travel party since we kept running into each other so often!! We're not done yet either.

Very sweet photopass photos at the front of the park. You look as if you like each other! ::yes::

Great Dis meet Kathy!!!!

Great news on Mark's job!!! :woohoo:

I love Voices of Liberty! :thumbsup2 Nice making another DISmeet, and super you got the pic to prove it happened!!! :goodvibes

Great news on Mark's job! That has got to be a relief to you both.

Jill in CO

Loved seeing all the cute pics of Cookie. That kitty is so cute. Hurray for Dis Meets!!! looked like a fun time in Epcot.
GREAT NEWS on Marks' job!!

Happy things are a bit better regarding Mark's job.

Great update! Love hearing about your Dismeeets.

For the longest time we couldn't figure out how we didn't gain tons of weight the way we eat during a WDW vacation. Then somewhere I read the average amount of walking one does on a WDW vacation is 6-10 miles per day!! Of course I think of that as I am sitting in the chair. I should adjust my eating accordingly I guess. :upsidedow

I still wake up several times a night wondering why Cookie isn't laying on my feet; it is hard walking in the house after work and her not being there to greet us and it's even hard not having her be at the table begging for food. :rotfl2:

I have found myself on too many occasions wondering whether or not we should have had the tumor removed and seen if it would have kept her with us longer. But there were other issues...couldn't see (she started walking into walls and doors), arthritis, couldn't hear. She just wasn't "our" Cookie anymore and I know in my heart this was the best decision for her, if not for us. We were truly blessed to have her 15-1/2 years of her almost 16 years gracing this earth.

I can relate so much to this. My kitty is not the same fella. He was doing a little better - he couldn't really have gotten any worse, I don't think - but now I am noticing even with two shots a day he is starting to go downhill again. I've said for about three months now that it is just a matter of time, and since then I think I have had at least three friends, and maybe 4-5, who have lost their sweet pets. My cat just doesn't have the 'personality' he used to have. It's different, because he used to sleep at the bottom of my bed every night for years, and he would sit in my lap and purr when I rubbed his ears. He really doesn't want anyone to bother him these days. :sad1: Maybe that will make it easier, to some small degree.

We got semi good news for Mark. I think since he didn't quit when they pulled the rug out from under him that they realized they better do something. They have taken him off draw/commission and will pay him a yearly salary. They will reevaluate in six months. They are forgetting about what he was currently under on his budget, and he will get paid the rest of the year.

Hope everything goes wonderfully well for Mark in his job situation. :thumbsup2

First of all so glad that Mark is getting paid again! That must be a great relief to you guys.

Hang in there with your memories of Cookie. It takes a while but eventually you'll be able to look back with more fondness and less sadness. Jim and I do that now with our first Schnauzer, Haley that we lost 3 years ago.

I haven't seen Voices of Liberty since 2011. Gonna have to remedy that on this trip! I love a capella groups so I'm surprised I haven't seen them more often.

Yum for the slushie! I think this trip I'm going to try the Cosmo Slushie that they have special for the Food & Wine festival.

My philosophy at Disney is to just eat as much as I want because I'm going to walk it off any way!

It appears that Cookie is a Bichon. We have a bichon that is 11 1/2 years old and has very bad breath and is starting to lose her teeth. We have her scheduled for teeth cleaning in January. When I saw your posting, it made me cry. Bichons are so loving and are such lapdogs. So sorry for your loss. :sad1:

That is good news for Mark. So very happy to hear this for both of you. That puts some of your worry to rest.

It does make life a little better and we don't have to hit his 401 for now.

Hoping each day gets a little easier for you.

Thanks; yesterday was hard, but I did sleep better last night (could be because I spent 10 hours cleaning the house).

Great photos! Great DISmeet! Great drinks! :goodvibes

You are right...it was great!

Sounds like a wonderful time was had by you all.

We had a good visit, and it was a beautiful day (well, except for that darn rain).

Another fun dis meet. I wish I could move to Florida and meet up with other Disers all the time.

Either that or take more trips to Disney. I really love meeting people from here.

Kathy, I just wanted to say again that I'm so sorry. It's a terrible thing to go through, and right now I know you'll feel like it's never going to get better. :grouphug:

Thank you, Danielle...I appreciate it.

Awesome, another DISmeet. You were just on fire with this trip!

We had quite a few this trip and it was so much fun.

I am glad Mark's bosses came to heir senses and made the new arrangement. Obviously they know what an asset he is.

Or they realized he wasn't going to quit and they don't want another age discrimination suit filed against them if they fire him. But at least now he has money coming in.

Loved the rest of your Epcot day, especially the slushy! The Voices of Liberty are great and I always cry during the American Adventure show.

We missed the American Adventure Show and we will be sure to see it in August/September next year.

Great pix as always Kathy!!! So glad to hear Mark got a little reprieve !!! I also noted alittle bit of Fond Cookie memories creeping in:grouphug:

Thanks, Rosie. Yes, there was a fond memory of Cookie...she loved being fed off the table and I was the one who always fed her. ;)

I refuse to get so far behind again! I will jsut have to stay on this page all the time! :thumbsup2

I think you should just leave it up all of the time!

We did not see the performers the last time... not sure if we will take the time this time. With the kids sometimes you just have to keep moving!! Those slushes are something I will be doing this time! :rotfl2: They look too yummy to skip!!!!

With little ones, you have to know when it is time to keep moving. If they need a break to rest their feet, this would be a good place for them to go. Oh, I do hope you have a slush...they are very yummy.

Hey there Kathy. Makes me so sad for you my friend that you have to go through the sorrow for your Cookie.

Thank you, my friend.

I think we were seeing Voices of Liberty at the same time seeing when we arrived in France together.

I'm guessing you caught the one after us since we made a couple of stops along the way before we hit France. Otherwise, I'm sure we would have seen you and Em.

And your memory is correct, we did get a photo with the three of us together. It was nice to meet Marilyn as well. :)
DSCN5249.jpg

Thank you for posting this picture. We all look great if I do say so myself.

I feel like I was almost part of your travel party since we kept running into each other so often!! We're not done yet either.

Nope, we are definitely not done.

Very sweet photopass photos at the front of the park. You look as if you like each other! ::yes::

We try to give off that vibe that we like each other every once in awhile. :lmao::lmao:

Kathy, I am so sorry you lost your Cookie. I know it is hard to lose a furry family member that has been with you for so long. I know you gave her a good life and I am sure she was proud to make you happy. I will be thinking about you .

Thank you, Dana. It was a rough week; I'm sure this Wendesday will be rough as the memories of saying goodbye come back. Thanks for the hug.

For what?
Mostly parades but there are drum and fife groups that play all different kinds of events here.

Ssssh....don't tell my secrets.
I don't love tequila but I'd gladly do a shot with you. :goodvibes

We got semi good news for Mark. I think since he didn't quit when they pulled the rug out from under him that they realized they better do something. They have taken him off draw/commission and will pay him a yearly salary. They will reevaluate in six months. Great news Kathy! Hopefully the salary is close to what he was making from commission. Maybe they can send him to Florida more often for business too. :rotfl2:

Hey, is Miley a relative........:rotfl2:. I love these pictures. I wish Dale would interact with the characters like that!!

Okay, I will admit I'm confused by the Miley reference. :confused3

Mark really is a kid at heart and loves goofing with them.

Hi Kathy I know I replied on FB, but I just wanted to send you and Mark another hug. It is so hard to be missing your fur baby, I know. I hope you are doing a little bit better today and know that I am praying for you both.

Thank you so much, Tammie. Each day gets a little better with less tears. The hardest part is at bedtime and not having her laying down with me.

wonderful news Mark's getting paid for the rest of the year, hope it bring you some much needed relief from that worry!

It is some good news and I am very grateful for it.

happy you treated yourself to a pedi and dinner out :goodvibes

We had a good dinner and I got Halloween toes. :)

see you found another drinking buddy :thumbsup2
Voices of Liberty are always a nice treat of the day!

Yes, I did...and we both had the same drink too. :) I love Voices of Liberty.

I couldn't agree with you more!

I don't know what I'd do without them.

15.5 years is a great life for a dog, and she was so lucky to have such great humans taking care of her. When we had to put Rufus down, I received such great love and support from all of my Dis friends - and a few of them gave me some very wise words... One thing that was said to me, which I will never forget, is that Dogs are meant to have one owner their entire lives, however, humans are meant to have several dogs over our lifespan... And it made me realize that we were, not only meant to outlive Rufus, but we were meant to move on and make sure we were able to give another dog as much love as we gave him and a good family - if only in his memory.

Thank you for this. I drove to Starbucks yesterday and there was a pet adoption going on at our Petsmart. I was so tempted to go in, but I refrained. I know we will get another dog at some point, just not now.

When Rufus left us, it left such a gaping hole in our family and our house - we had to put him down just 3 days before the girls and I left on our first girls trip to WDW... I knew Josh would be more lonely than ever and I felt so badly for him too... It was no surprise when we came home to little MM in our house... Yes, it may have been a little too soon - as we were not trying to "replace" Rufus in any way... but in the end MM is a part of our family too - and there is no way we could imagine our lives with out him. Rufus is still a HUGE part of our memories, we talk about him all the time and how much we miss him - he truly was the best dog ever... And no matter how many dogs come into our lives in the future - Rufus will always be included in our best family memories, as he grew up with my girls and he was a HUGE part of their childhood - he lived with us for 11 years.

I wanted you to hear those same words that were spoken to me by a good Diser friend, because some how they made sense and helped me begin that healing process too. Many hugs to you, my friend.

Thank you; once we move to Florida, I am sure we will get another furbaby. I would just hate to get a dog now and then not be able to keep him/her when we moved.

I am very relieved for you that Mark will continue to be paid. Even though it doesn't seem to make up for the stress you all have been under due to this, I hope you are able to move forward and things will be easier than they might have been.

It will never make up for the stress nor the humiliation of Mark going to work knowing he is not going to get paid. It's a huge pay cut, but at least it will be something.

**********************************************************

I loved your update Kathy!!!

Thank you.

The Voices of Liberty are truly fantastic... The girls and I love listening to them.

We do too; we try not to miss them when we go.

Yay for another Dismeet!!! And then a photo of all 3 of you together - that's even better!

I'm so glad Brenda got that photo (can't believe I didn't give my camera to Mark.

I love the photopass photos of you and Mark in Epcot - they turned out really great!

Many hugs to you! :grouphug:

D~

Thanks again, D. :flower3:

Well I hope that little rug pulling wasn't a test. But I am happy they thought about how they do things and came up with a solution.
:cheer2::cheer2:

Well they said they would reevaluate in six months...we shall see. Personally, I hope in the meantime he finds something else he likes because I don't like that company at all.

What a nice DIS meet! And I'm very happy to hear that you two got some good news about Mark's job.

Thanks, Nory. We had a very nice time with Marilyn (and Brenda and Em again). It was good news that money will be coming in for now.

We returned from WDW mid-week and I'm getting caught up on my subs. Before I read any further I just wanted to post and tell you how sorry I am to read about your loss. Cookie reminds me of our first dog, a wonderfully sweet little Bichon named Ruffy. He was such a loving little guy and I cried buckets when we lost him. It's so hard to lose a four-legged family member, sending hugs and healing thoughts to you.

I couldnt agree more, there is no better friend than a Dis-friend1

They are ALWAYS there...the best!

Great update and how nice that you had another dis-meet! They really are the best!

I do love my DIS meets; so fun meeting people we talk to daily here on the DIS.

Wonderful update Kathy! Love all the DISmeets. So much fun, aren't they?

They truly are.

Good to hear that Mark's employer has at least partially come to their senses. I hope things improve for him.

Partially is the key word here. We will see how it goes; Mark is going to keep looking though in case something better pops up.

 for Cookie! :flower3:

Thank you for the hug for Cookie. :)

Great Dis meet Kathy!!!!

Thanks, Rosie.

Disney Calories don't count so it's all good :)

I keep forgetting that; I just wish my pants understood that when I get back home from those trips. :lmao::lmao:

Great news on Mark's job!!! :woohoo:

Thank you.

I love Voices of Liberty! :thumbsup2 Nice making another DISmeet, and super you got the pic to prove it happened!!! :goodvibes

Voices of Liberty is so good; Mark could sit there all afternoon and just keep watching performance after performance. I've learned that if there wasn't a picture it didn't happen. So those I didn't get pictures with will have to meet up with me again. ;)

Great news on Mark's job! That has got to be a relief to you both.

Jill in CO

Thank you, Jill; it is a relief, especially with the holidays coming up.

Loved seeing all the cute pics of Cookie. That kitty is so cute. Hurray for Dis Meets!!! looked like a fun time in Epcot.
GREAT NEWS on Marks' job!!

Thanks, Mary; she certainly was a cutie. Charleston is adorable, although very shy. Love my DIS meets; just think one of our first ones was with you and the girls and look where that has led. :goodvibes

Happy things are a bit better regarding Mark's job.

We are too, Dee.

Great update! Love hearing about your Dismeeets.

They are always fun, aren't they?

I gained four pounds in August; I guess we took too many rests from the heat. :lmao:

MeMom, I am so sorry you are going through this too. It really is the hardest thing in the world. I told Mark the other day that I felt like I also loss another little piece of my Dad when we lost Cookie. Cookie insisted on sitting in the same spot on the couch that my dad did since we lost him five years ago. This is where she would sit with him and he would pet her and pet her. If anyone else sat there, she was NOT a happy dog.

Hope everything goes wonderfully well for Mark in his job situation. :thumbsup2

Thanks; I hope it relieves some of his stress. I don't want the man having another heart attack on me.

First of all so glad that Mark is getting paid again! That must be a great relief to you guys.

It truly is with the holidays and our trip just 50 days away.

Hang in there with your memories of Cookie. It takes a while but eventually you'll be able to look back with more fondness and less sadness. Jim and I do that now with our first Schnauzer, Haley that we lost 3 years ago.

Yes, Cookie was a Bichon. I'm sorry I made you cry. I hope the teeth cleaning rectifies the bad breath. They are the BEST lapdogs ever, and I really miss her.

Mostly parades but there are drum and fife groups that play all different kinds of events here.

You do have a lot of parades there so I guess I understand that now (I'm a little slow....and NO comments from you on that).

I don't love tequila but I'd gladly do a shot with you. :goodvibes

I hate it, but I'd gladly do a shot with you too my friend.

Great news Kathy! Hopefully the salary is close to what he was making from commission. Maybe they can send him to Florida more often for business too. :rotfl2:

The salary is no where near his commission, but it is better than nothing. The problem with Florida is he has lost a lot of customers there. But we were talking on Saturday night, and he has two in New York that he doesn't go see because they come here for the tradeshows. But he is thinking maybe it's time he goes to New York to see them and we can then make our long weekend into a business/pleasure trip. :goodvibes

I hope you had a wonderful time in Disney. Aren't Bichon's the best? They are so lovable and sweet. I truly thought the tears would never stop, and they still haven't, but they are getting better. Thank you for the hugs and healing thoughts.

Well once you get some dates let me know.... better not be the second week in May through the end of June though. :faint:

Glad Mark's job kinda came around Kathy

And I know what you mean about the Rainbow Bridge website, it still brings tears to my eyes, but I was great for us to grieve and cry with so many others who understood...but of course you know WE get it here:littleangel::hug:

So we left Epcot and drove back to Old Key West.

We took showers, relaxed a little and then hopped in the car to driveto the Yacht Club where we would be having dinner this evening at the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

We parked the car and took our time as we were early and knew from past experience that we would not be seated right at our time (although there are usually tables available).

Once we reached the hostess desk, we gave our name and then had a seat until they called us for our table.

We were called about ten minutes later and the hostess started to walk us to our table. I could tell by the direction we were headed and the table we passed, that we were going to be seated by a table of 8 people. I was NOT happy about this at all because I knew who those 8 people were. They were the 8 people waiting with us who had two kids who were climbing over the furniture in the waitng area, screaming at the top of their lungs, while the parents/grandparents totally ignored them. Not my idea of a nice anniversary dinner. I asked if we could wait until something else opened up and they said we might have to wait a bit and I told them that was fine. We went back and sat down and waited.

I want to say it was only another five minutes before they took us to a new table which was off in it's own little alcover with only four tables in it. The other three tables were filled, but it was parents with older kids and they were all very quiet.

Soon our waitress came over and brought us our very special "anniversary" menus. I thought this was very sweet of them.

Mark ordered a glass of Reisling

And I ordered one of their delicious Pina Coladas

Our waitress took our orders and then brought us our bread. I could just sit and eat the onion bread ALL NIGHT LONG:

We didn't order any appetizers this time because we knew how full it made us when we were there in April.

Soon enough our entrees arrived:

Mark ahd the filet with mashed potatos:

And I had the strip with a baked potato:

Let me just say that everything was absolutely perfect...cooked exactly the way we like it. We will definitely be back to Yachtsman. It blows LeCellier out of the water.

While we were dining, our new DIS friends also came in to dine and they came over to say hello to us and offered to take a picture of Mark and I having our special anniversary dinner:

We were too full for dessert, but our waitress brought us an anniversary dessert.

I believe it may have been the Dessert Sampler Platter but couldn't say for sure. Mark tried a little of each but was not impressed.

After we settled up our tab, we went over to our DIS friends table to be sure they were being well taken care of. And, of course, we had to have a picture:

Sorry about the pictures...most of them are bad because I didn't want to use a flash in the restaurant.

After we left Em and Brenda, we decided to try to walk off our dinner and took a stroll to the Boardwalk.

A few pictures along the way:

As we were walking over the bridge to the Boardwalk, Illuminations had started:

We browsed in the shops. And you all know by now what happens when we browse in shops:

As we passed here

Mark could smell the smells coming out of the open door and decided he had to have a peek. Well a peek turned into a purchase and we found a bench outside while he ate his treat

After Mark finished his treat, we slowly walked back to the Yacht Club to retrieve our car and drive back to Old Key West.

One last picture on the way:

I think we were back in the room and in bed by 10:30.

Up next, a Wednesday with no park time?

Well once you get some dates let me know.... better not be the second week in May through the end of June though. :faint:

If this happens, we were looking at the weekend after Easter or it would have to be in October.

Glad Mark's job kinda came around Kathy

Thank you; we are too.

And I know what you mean about the Rainbow Bridge website, it still brings tears to my eyes, but I was great for us to grieve and cry with so many others who understood...but of course you know WE get it here:littleangel::hug:

Yes, we get it here...because DIS friends are the best friends. :grouphug:

Sounds (and looks) like a very yummy dinner... right down to my favorite... a Pina Colada!!!

Last trip we never made it to the boardwalk area... I am hoping to this time, but I don't know. Things are starting to look rather full.
