I once worked with someone who used to be a CM on the college program. She mentioned how there are many people who asked really no-brainer questions at WDW. What are some questions or comments you may have overheard that really made you chuckle to yourself?

-Laura :hyper:

The 3 questions I hear the most are "What time is the 4 o'clock parade?", "Why do I need a hand stamp?", and "How do I get to Disney World from here?" (here being AK)

I have also given people directions when they asked how to get to Disneyland (Follow signs for 417 North, take that to the Airport, get on a plane for Anaheim, follow signs from there)

When I worked at Yellowstone National Park many years back this one would always bring a good laugh...

"Do you turn old faithful off at night?" :p

sorry, i know not disney related but sometimes tourists go on vacation (myself def. included) and our common sense valve shuts off...

At the Magic Kingdom The week after Easter, the 3 oclock parade started at 2 oclock. Was anyone else there on April 14th that can also verify this? The parade started out with the characters from Home on the Range.

:D
When I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour ( with Rae- she's the best CM!). Rae told us that when people ask that question, they usually are REALLY asking, "At what time does the parade pass by my location" so the standard reply for a CM is " The 3 o'clock parade starts at 3 pm at the Main Street______and passes this location at_____ and ends at the______ at 3:40 pm"
I'm betting that by the end of the first day after working at MK, most CM's know this speil by heart:smooth:

On a cruise:
When is the midnight buffet?
Do these stairs go up or down?

:)

Rozzie, one year at Yellowstone ( our fav NP) we heard a tourist ask a park ranger why they had little red dogs follow the bison around .... ( you and I know them as bison calves)

We also heard alot of neat Yellowstone stories and dumb tourist questions from a Park employee one night sitting in the lobby of OF Inn. Also was told about the end of season Old Faithful turn off spigot sunt:teeth:

Friends/co-workers who ask me to help with their trip plans and then when I mention Epcot/MGM/AK/DTD, etc. they get all bent out of shape because they don't want to go to those places.

They only want to go to WDW (meaning MK)

LOL! I could post forever with my YNP dumb questions.:)
But I have been wanting to ask you, I see your name is "perdido bay", do you mean perdidobay AL/FL? you see my location, i have great memories of perdidobay, we used to take our horses swimming in the bay every week it seemed (weather permitting) when i was a kid.....

the days before developments.........................sigh............;)

I was in a shop at MGM returning something. The man in front of me was getting directions to a store near TOT that carried what he was looking for.

He says - so I just walk down this street and it's right by the haunted mansion?
the CM says - yes.

I pipe up "The haunted mansion is a pretty far walk from here...you might want to take a bus." They both look at me then it hits him - "Oh yeah, that WOULD be a far walk!" hehehe

We had Rae, too, for Keys to the Kingdom- she was awesome!! I sell WDW tickets at AAA and this lady came in the other day and said "I'm staying at the Contemporary for $50 a night and we are taking the monorail to Universal Studios" :teeth: -Stephanie

Not to be a stickler, but wouldn't that make it the 2 o'clock parade instead of the 3 o'clock parade? That's kind of like saying the channel 5 news came on channel 3. ;)

I highly suggest anyone who has ever worked in retail or might some day work in retail to rent the movie The Clerks (maybe just Clerks) It is a B&W film that is over the top funny.

A scene from Clerks...

The main charater works in a 24 gas station... Lights are all on, he is standing behind the counter when a man enters... "are you open?"

tears stream while watching this flick.

You know what happens when you make something idiot proof?? They make better idiots.

Heard this one on a cruise ship:

Guest: Is the pool salt water or fresh water?

Staff: Salt water

Guest: oh, then that would explain the waves!

:rotfl: :rotfl:

I have a feeling this thread will be as entertaining as the "Shock" thread:teeth:

In October 2003 we were on the Disney Wonder leaving Port Canaveral for a 3-day cruise. We were on the top deck of the ship celebrating our Bon Voyage. As the ship was sailing out of the canal it was going by several other smaller ships and at the end of the canal you could see the coastline of Florida. While we were standing there this man is walking behind us and I heard him say to his wife......"There's the Orlando coast." His wife said "Yes, it looks so peaceful." I just about lost it....my mom was videoing and you can hear everything on the video. It was priceless!!

The next thing I overheard was this past summer. We had just gotten off the bus at MK and we were walking to the security check gates. I heard a Dad telling his son to "look, you can see the top of Mickey's castle." The son said back to his dad, "Can we buy one of those speed passes and go in Mickey's Castle?":earseek:

We were at Epcot yesterday waiting in line for Test Track when it started to pour. Of course, TT was shut down. Countless people were asking the CMs.... "how long until the rain stops and you open the ride again?" Duh....

two older ladies in front of us getting on the bus, "i hope this is the right bus" Bus driver: "where do you want to go?" ladies: "we want to go to disney world." Bus driver: "you're there, now where in disney world do you want to go? ladies: "you know to disney world." My friend at work: we got a package that includes passes for the whole time you are there and all the parks, i cant wait for sea world. ME:" those tickets dont include sea world". MY friend: "sure they do you get a bus right out in front of the All Star Hotel we are staying at." Another friend:"yea i remember when we went down years ago my favorite ride at "disneyland" was jaws." A family outside Mickeys Philharmagic,"there is a magic show in this building lets wait and go see the next one." A couple walking down Sunset Blvd:"are you sure your looking at the map right i dont see no roller coaster down there." And here is the eternal optimist," fantasmic starts at 8:00 so lets go eat and start over there about ten of"

Actually, that wasn't the 3:00 parade. That was the pre-parade to advertise the movie when it came out. The 3:00 parade still started at 3:00.

I overheard two women walking around World Showcase -- I wonder where Epcot is? You think it is that big golf ball back there? I just looked at the CM and said Should we tell them? We both went Naaaaah!!!!
