What time is best for Blue Bayou?

I am soon going to book our reservation for Blue Bayou and was wondering what is the best time slot to ask for. Any recommendations and experiences at different times would be appreciated.

If you want lunch, get the absolute earliest, when they open (something like 11:30). Minimizes the wait, and if you want a water-side table it maximizes the chances that you'll get it (since no one will already be dining there and taking it up so you can't sit there).

If you have your heart set on sitting by the water, get the first time available (11:30, I think), show up early, and ask for a waterside table "pretty please, with sugar on top". The downside of lunch time is they don't serve the surf-n-turf or filet mignon.

Other than that, I don't see much difference in the reservation times. Waterside is generally preferred and they'll sometimes let you wait for a seat by the water but it's less likely after the first seating and pretty much luck-of-the-draw as closing time approaches.

We like 1130 for lunch with a waterside table. In my opinion can not be beat.

Thanks for the advice. Looks like it's unanimous for 11:30am. I hope we get waterside. What are some of your favorite foods?

Hehe, I did it! Thanks everyone. I was able to get the 11:30 lunch for our party. I missed the 60 day mark by a few days and was worried it would be all booked. :cool1:

We did the 11:30 seating and got waterside the last time we were there. I personally really enjoy the Tesoro Island Chicken. DH has always gotten a Monte Cristo, but it's too much food for him, and very rich - so the next time we go he likely will get something else.

Both sound good. I have two older boys with big appetites so even though they are still preteens they will each get their own full size meals. They don't want to split unfortunately for our wallet. :lmao:

I thought this was very good too. :thumbsup2

If you decide on dinner I would employ the same strategy and get an early seating. It closes for a bit between lunch and dinner. Reopening at 4pm.

If you end up with a later dinner avoid times around F! so you don't have problems getting to and from New Orleans Sq.

Last time I was there I got the chicken as well...I really like it. The potatoes were AMAZING in my opinion! My mom & dad loved the Monte Cristo, but even they can't finish it all!

OMG, you guys are making me hungry. I don't know, should I go for lunch or early dinner? It will be our last full day there so I want to make it awesome eating here.

The DIS menu link shows that it was updated 11/10 and the Monte Cristo isn't on the lunch menu - does anyone know if that's true??? Also, I had made a reservation for 3pm on a Tuesday - I though we'd be able to ask for a waterfront table and just wait, but that sounds like it might not be the case?

Unless the menu's changed, The Monte Cristo is a lunch-exclusive item and the Filet Mignon dishes (with or without Lobster) are dinner-exclusive. The rest is the same.
I do not remember the short-ribs being on the menu last August. ! cm told me that all 1130 reservations would get waterside so check in at least 15 minutes early.

It's absolutely possible. We've done that a time or two, had later reservations (we normally try for the 11:30 slot) and asked for waterside. We've always got it, we've been told we'd have to wait up to 45 minutes but we've never had to wait more then 10-15. Just let them know that's what you'd like, then when they say you will have to wait say that's fine and wait. That's it. :)

We were there in August and I don't remember the monte cristo being on the lunch menu so it may have been removed. I had the chicken and it was so good. The potatoes are to die for if I could just eat those as my main meal I would be happy, LOL!

The monte cristo was on the lunch menu in October

I had the chicken which was delicious.

We had a booking for 11.50 and got a table by the water without asking for it

Ok, I changed our ressie to 11:30 LOL. Still wondering about that Monte Cristo though! Has anyone been there really recently and had one?
