What time for RD?

I am beginning to plan our park days for May 31- June 6. On a few days, we want to be there early to take advantage of lower crowds, but won't be doing the most popular attraction. For instance, on our HS day, we will probably 1st ride ToT, then DH will ride RnR (hope to get a RS since my DDs are too short for it that I will use later in the day) while I take DDs6 to visit Disney Jr characters. So while we plan to be there for RD (guessing it will be about 8:45) do we really need to be there 20-30 minutes before that? I'm just really trying to avoid standing in a crowd of people prior to rope drop if possible.

I would.

It's difficult to time your arrival down to the minute, anyway.
I'd err on being too early.
