What time for DME??

I've done DME in the past but have a few questions. Our flight home is not until 9pm. Check out is at 11am - but I have heard they will hold our bags if we want to spend part of the day in a park. But I'm wondering what time we should expect DME to be picking us up from the resort (poly)???

Also, we will be landing at MCO about 8:30pm. I am not sure if I should grab my own bags or let DME handle it. One time we had an even later flight in and they were knocking on our door at 5am with our luggage. I was not happy having just got to my room around midnight - I really never expected them to be delivered that early. So, with an 8:30pm arrival time would bags be in our room by 10-11pm or should I just grab them myself??

Re: what time for your DME ride to the airport: I'd say 2.5-3 hours before your flight. You'll get paperwork the day before you check out to tell you what time the bus will pick you up. (They tell you, you don't choose).

As for your next question, I'd check my bags for sure, since you may end up getting to your room sooner rather than waiting around for your bags. I'd be certain to let them know at the front desk that you prefer they don't deliver your bags to your room during certain time periods (i.e., after 11 or before 7). Be sure to pack what you'll need that night, the rest of your stuff can wait until it arrives.

Have a wonderful trip!

For a 9pm flight, DME will pick you up around 6ish...give or take 15 mins either way. So, plan on being back at your resort by 5 in order to get your luggage from storage, visit the restroom and grab any last minute gifts in the gift shop. We always have one person who just has to run through the gift shop one last time!!!!!

As far as your arrival and checked bags.....I would tag them, then allow DME to take care of them. Pack your carryon bags with anything you may need for the night and first thing in the morning. Then, when you check in at your resort, let them know you want your bags held until the next morning. I would also let Bell Services know as well....just in case. When you get to your room, hang out the 'privacy please' door hanger...that way, no one will be banging on your door in the middle of the night just in case someone misses the 'hold until morning memo'!!!
When you get up in the morning, call down to Bell Services and tell them to bring your bags up.

Or, if you don't mind taking a few extra minutes (about 20), you can not tag your checked bags with the DME tags, and just go to baggage claim and get them yourselves. But, if you are arriving on Side A of MCO, you will have to take the tram to the main terminal, level 3, then go to Side A, go down to level 2, get your bags, go back up to level 3, cross the terminal (not a huge deal) over to Side B, then go down to level 1 and ground transportation for DME. It can be time consuming and a hassle.

thanks for the info. I thought we'd be picked up more like 4pm so anything later is even better (except for my "likes to be 3 hours early for flights" DH, LOL).

Our flight is on the B side I believe. Problem is our airline charges for carry ons as well as checked bags so we are trying to get by with just one carry on for the 5 of us. I can probably make it work but it may just be worth the 20 min. to get our own luggage. And we have 8am ADR in MK the next morning so I don't want to be waiting on bell services in the morning either (this may be the time I WANT them to deliver early and they don't, LOL!).

We typically have a late flight out and we get up in the morning and finish packing. Dh will take our bags to the check in service and I will drop our carry ons off with bell services. Then we grab a quick bite to eat - I am usually done first, so I take dds to the food court and then head off to whatever park we are going to for our last day.

For our last trip our flight out was scheduled for 8:40 and we were picked up at 5:30. We were back at our resort by 4:30, this gave us time to get our bags from bell services, get everything arranged and get a last minute snack.

Assuming your room is ready, the DME baggage tends to get there about three hours after you can.

For a plane arriving at 8:30 PM, the expected time for the baggage to get to your room is midnight.

Some irregularities exist, for example baggage coming off the planes after 10 PM isn't intercepted by DME until the next morning and, at the All Stars and Pop Century, bellhops don't deliver DME baggage after 10 PM.

It is not necessary to wait in your room for your bags to come via DME. Contrasted with bags you brought into the lobby and left with the bellhop and bags delivered from another resort you stayed at the previous night for which you must call, wait, and tip at your room.

I am so glad you asked this! I think we have the exact same flights booked for our September trip and I was debating on what to do withour bags. I think we will tag them and bring enough in our small backpacks to get through the night and the next morning.

I know I don't HAVE to be there for them to deliver my bags but I will NEED them to get ready to go out in the morning. We can get by the night with what's in our carry ons but not get the 5 of us out the next morning without our luggage.
So, since I don't want them delivering my luggage when we are sleeping after 11pm and I can't be positive it will be in my room when we are getting ready for our day at 6-6:30am wouldn't it sound like the best option is to wait for the luggage off the plane at 8:30pm-ish and bring them with us to our room???

I would suggest that you take your luggage from baggage claim to the DME to be sure. Given your next morning options, this seems to be a viable solution.

I would suggest packing each person's next-morning outfit in their individual underseat (free, if you're using the airline I think) carry-on. Let DME take your checked luggage. Tell Bell Sevices what time you want it delivered; I can't find it now, but aren't you staying at the Poly? Any resort except a Value has 24 luggage service.
