Is it necessary to be off the boat at a certain time to be able to get chairs and umbrella. I would prefer not to rush and take our time. But I have two children with very fair skin and really need to have an umbrellla. Does everyone get off the boat and these things are taken right away? If so I will be sure to get off early. Thank you in advance for your help.

i'm trying to remember...
we took our time getting off the boat....
so we did have to walk all the way down the beach...
but if memory serves, once we made the trek down the long beach, we managed to find chairs.....and i think there was shade from trees down there....but i might be wrong..
maybe someone else will remember....

You don't need to rush.. Of course, you do need to use sunscreen. I'd also suggest bringing a cheap t-shirt to wear in the water. Remember, tropical sun is bad for burning even with an umbrella.

I can only speak to the family beach, not the teen or adult areas. We were off the boat among the first groups (around 9:30 a.m.) and I just missed getting one of the prime umbrella/hammock locations right along the water. No problem getting an umbrella, though, and if you don't need to be right along the water, you should have even more time. Still, the boat wasn't full and the family beach was very crowded, so you're best not to wait too long.

Hi there -

My DH usually heads down to wait in line to be one of the first to disembark fairly early. He takes most of our beach stuff and gets our place on the beach for us. He take one of our walkie talkies and calls back with the location.

This way the rest of us can take our time and he gets a bit of relaxation before we all meet up. Umbrellas are not as big a deal to get as the hammocks. Some people even "run" to get those.

I hope that helps.

Happy Holidays!

Michele

Even if you disembark later in the day, you can walk all the way down to the end of the family beach and you can usually find chairs under umbrellas there, or else plenty of shady palm trees. If there are no chairs under the palms, just drag some over. That area doesn't really get crowded until quite late. There are even some hammocks over there that people tend to miss. It's very convenient to the restrooms and also to Castaway Joe's game pavillion. And the game area is a great, shady spot to take some time out of the sun.
