Also, do you need to get there early not to have a long line? We're staying at HRH but want to visit Portofino pool but its a holiday weekend so crowds might be an issue. Thought we'd go after a half day at the parks but maybe morning would be better? Do they do any fun pool activities? Thanks.

For anyone interested, I called and they said slide opens at 9am and closes 15 min before pool closes.

Curious, we thought the HRH pool was fantastic-beautifully landscaped. Are you picking Port. for theming, more spacious digs, quality of slide or just want to try it out?popcorn::

We love HRH pool, have gone when stayed there and pool hopped to it when stayed at RPR. We walked over to PHR for dinner during our last HRH stay and the kids asked to swim in that pool. Since it's the only one we haven't been in, thought we take advantage of the pool hopping and check out their slide. I tell the kids I try to honor reasonable requests.......

They are also pizza fans so I was hoping to be there around lunchtime and grab a pizza somewhere and bring it poolside if that can work out.

We love pool hopping too. My kids consider it a successful trip if they have been able to swim in ALL the pools! :rotfl:

You can order some great pizza at Sal's and bring it poolside or Splendido Pizzeria which is actually poolside. The have some terrific salads too.

Walk over to the villa pool for a dip too at PBH. Lots of hot tubs surrounding the grounds also. The slide at PBH is faster than HRH just not as long. Have fun. :)

I'm glad you called. I thought the beach pool opened at 8 but didn't know about the slide because they have an attendant.

It could be one of those things that scheduled to open at 9am but in reality, depends on when lifeguards are set to open it. Anyone been on a crowded weekend know about how packed the slide gets? I suppose if its warm enough, heading to the pool after breakfast and before the parks to beat the crowds would be good, and less chance of rain. If crowds weren't a factor, I'd rather hit the parks in the morning and afternoon at the pool. We'll figure it out, I do about 1/2 the stuff I plan anyway, we get tired.

Thanks Fan2 for pizza advice.

I missed the crowd concern in your posts. No worries at Portofino for slide time. I haven't ever witnessed huge crowds at their pool (or slide line) no matter what the season. I think the majority of kids are at HRH and RPR. Of course this has just been my experience.
