What time does harbor security checkpoint open?

The parks do not open until 10am, but we have an 8am breakfast reservation at Storytellers at the GCH and are staying at the Candy Cane. Will we be able to cut across the esplanade and enter the GCH from Downtown Disney? I just dont know what time the security checkpoint opens when the park opens so late. Anyone know? thank you!

5:00 am...that is when the DTD Starbucks opens.

That's pretty dang early, especially considering when the parks themselves don't open til 10 am. I guess they have to staff the security screening checkpoints that early now that DTD is a secured area.

I remember getting to the esplanade early (before security arrived) just to be kicked out later when security arrived.

Yeah, it is probably easier and cheaper to staff one checkpoint at each location earlier than it would be to clear and sweep DTD every morning.

so do they have the security zone closed during off hours or do they do a security sweep of DTD each morning. seem like doing a thorough search of DTD every day would be really labor intensive.
