What time do they start charging for entrance into Pleasure Island?

Hello,

I am interested in checking out Pleasure Island for some shopping during the day (free admission, right?). I also wouldn't mind catching some of the fireworks or "street entertainment". I'm not really a club person and PI admission isn't included with my AP so I don't really want to pay to go there.

If I recall they start charging admission around 7:00 p.m.? So does that mean if I'm doing my shopping around 6:00 p.m. I can avoid paying the admission fee? Would I be able to get access to any food or drinks without going into a club?

Or should I just stick to wandering on the West Side or the Marketplace?

I could be wrong, but I think I read that Pleasure Island would not be open any more during the day for shopping. If that is the case you won't be able to go and browse.

At present, none of the shops or restaurants on the Island proper are open during the day, so you can wander around and look in windows, but that's about it.

They start charging admission at 7pm, and when you pay your admission, you receive a wristband. One color for over 21 (able to drink alcohol) and one color for under 21. While you can certainly be on the Island at 6pm and hang around until after 7pm, without the wristband, you can't purchase drinks anywhere on the Island. You also cannot go into any of the clubs.

Personally ... I'd stick to the West Side and Marketplace.

I'm remembering there used to be a great Villains shop and an Animation art store I love looking through. Does that mean that I will have to pay admission to even do some shopping? Or will the stores open at say 5:00 or 6:00 so I could do a bit of shopping before paying admission?

I suppose I could just content myself with the 1000 plus other shopping opportunities at Disney.

I read also that Pleasure Ihland is closed to foot traffic during the day now. It also said that you have to walk around it - on the sidewalk next to the parking lot.

It is apparently now entirely closed during the day.

PI will open at 7. Lately they've been doing something called a "sneak preview" which means they'll let people in from 7 to 8 or so to take a look around, and after that if they want to stay they will have to go out and pay admission.

If you're going to be around the Marketplace or West Side anyway, you can check and see if they're doing that.

The Villain store is gone from Pleasure Island. The only store with lots of stuff from the 'Bad Guys" is at MGM Studio.
The Art Store with the posters, cells, & Disney figurines is still at PI.

You can enter PI in the evening to walk about, or to catch whatever band is playing on center stage for free. In order to get into any of the clubs, you would have to pay the addmission and get a wristband to enter.

We were there last Friday night: We went after 7:00 and were in Adventurers Club without wristband they said around 9:00 o'clock they kickout the freeloaders (their term) and only people with wristbands were allowed in.
