What time do little kids trick or treat when Halloween is on a Saturday?

Our Trick or Treat is on Sat. night from 6-8, but all of our neighboring communities had it last night and tonight. So we are going to get hit hard. I think it is wrong that they have it on different nights it just makes it so parents can drive into our town and drop more kids off. It is so frustrating:confused3

Ours is always 6-8 no matter the day. Ours is usually on Thursday's...not sure why its actually on Halloween this year...

It wasn't until I joined the DIS that I realized some towns had such a thing as "official" Halloween/ToT hours. I'd never heard of ToT-ing happening on any other day EXCEPT Halloween, just as Christmas happens on Dec. 25 and Valentine's Day is Feb. 14. You wait until dark on Halloween night and you head out.

Same here!! Halloween should be ON Halloween.....3 states and that is the way I have always know it.
In WA, the kids would come out at dusk, about 5:30 or so and most were gone by 9.
I am in AZ this year, so not so sure. We'll find out tomorrow. :yay:

We have one of those oddball nights. ToT was last night, 6-8pm. :rolleyes1

Was there a reason??? I suppose (altought I don't agree with changing it) I could see moving it if it were on a "school night" but with it being on a Saturday why would it be moved?!?!?!

My local town will be tomorrow from 1-5. We might go to my parent's house and ToT around there, their hours are 3-7.

I have no idea. I grew up here and it was that way when I was a kid. It's always on a school night.

It's not a big deal though. Kids don't care when they get candy.

In my home town we never had official hours either.

The toddler/preschooler set would usually start a little bit earlier. Around 6:00 when it was still dusky but not dark. The rest of the kids would start showing up around 6:45. Halloween trick or treating would taper off around 8:30 or so with some stragglers coming around until 9:30.

The official trick-or-treat hours for my town is 5:30 - 7:30.

But we live out in the country and usually get very, very few (if any!) trick-or-treaters, so I leave the light on until 9:00 or 9:30 just in case.

I live in an area that the only time TOT is moved to another day is when it falls on Sundays. While the city of FTW doesn't do this, there are a couple of small towns just outside of us that move TOT to Saturday nights, due to the large number of Amish families that live in these communities.

Out of respect for the Amish families and their beliefs, they do not do TOT on the sabbath. It has been like that for as long as I can remember.

We don't have official hours but my neighbors with little ones will be going out right after lunch. Can't wait to see them....

I asked my DS what time he was expecting to TOT tomorrow. He thought about it and said "not too early, cuz people will be sleeping" I said "good boy, you care about others" He said "no - then they won't answer the door and we can't get candy, so its a waste of time" :rotfl:

Then he told me as serious as a heart attack that he thinks 2p-11p would be a good time to TOT :rotfl:

I told him we'll go as soon as it starts to get dark. :)

I try to be ready about an hour or so before dark.

We have some young ones in the neighborhood and often the parents ToT early with them so that they can be done before an early bedtime.

I don't mind doing that at all.

My kids have to wait until after dinner--that I won't serve until about 5:30 or 6. :rotfl:

This is what I am afraid of. I don't get prepared for trick or treaters to arrive until 4 at the very very earliest. With it being on a Saturday AND with them predicting some showers I'm afraid they'll be coming right smack in the middle of the day when I'm not ready and hardly anyone is home to even be giving out candy because they're all running errands and out at fall festivals.

That's why it's nice to have set hours. Our township is always 6-8 on Halloween. I won't be here passing out candy all afternoon. I thought one of the reasons they moved the daylight savings time change to November was so that it wouldn't be so dark for Halloween trick or treaters.

There are no time restrictions in DD's area, so I imagine the parents will want to get the little ones out in the early afternoon - when it's the warmest..

With Halloween being on a Saturday this year, if you live in an area with no restrctions, I imagine you'll be seeing TOT's from noon until 9 or 10 at night..

Lucky me! I only have to hand out peanuts to the chipmunks and squirrels here at the lake..:rotfl::rotfl:

That's no fun.....

My kids think they are going out at about 11 am. I told them more like 1 pm. We have a sweet 16 tomorrow night so the kids will To T in the afternoon and then get ready for the party. We actually have very few night Tor t's. Everyone around here goes in the afternoon/early evening. I don't think I've ever had anyone come after 8pm.

The village has declared that Trick or Treating hours are between 2 and 6. Our doorbell will ring well up until eight and maybe later if we don't turn off the porch light.

Kids here are finishing up trick or treat. We always go on the 30th and the hours are 5-7:30.
