What time do buses start running?

Just wondering. We are staying at POR and have breakfast at Ohana at 7:30. We will have a car, but I would love to take a bus in the morning so we could take the monorail over to EPCOT after breakfast.

Wow, I didn't realize they started breakfast that early. I think the buses start at 7...

Buses to the MK start around 6:30. Once you get to the MK then you will need to take a boat or the monorail to the Poly.
I would give yourself plenty of travel time that early in the morning. I would say be at the bus stop at the POR no later than 6:45.
What you can do, is drive your car and park at the TTC, from there you can walk to the Poly or take the monorail over. Then after your breakfast you can monorail over to Epcot. Once you leave Epcot get off the monorail at the TTC and drive back to the POR

You can ask the bus driver to take you to the poly. I have had great success when asking the driver to drop us off for the early ADR's at the different resorts. On one of our last trips, there were two other families on the bus with adr's all at different locations and the driver took everyone to their locations.

More specifically, especially if there are a number of other Guests on the bus - and granted, there probably won't be :) - when you board, ASK the driver how to get to the Polynesian for your breakfast. If she/he possibly can, they'll drop you off right at the resort.

Drivers are required to get permission, and unless the circumstances are right, they won't get it, to make a special stop. It's called "making the magic". They'll be in serious trouble if they're caught making unauthorized stops, so I wouldn't count on it happening. You have a car and if you have a GPS, it's always best to drive. I would drive to the Poly. for the ADR and then to Epcot. Once at Epcot, you can always take the Monorail to MK and back if you're wanting to ride the Monorail.

True, but many people here have had the experience of a driver dropping them at the CR or Polynesian after stopping at the MK. Do I recommend counting on that happening? Absolutely not! When I hop on the MK bus, with the intention of walking over to the CR , if I am pressed for time (which seldom happens) I will ask the driver which is faster to the CR....walking or monorail. Sometimes, and this is just sometimes, he will tell me to just stay on the bus and he will drop me at the CR after MK.

But again...it's nothing that should be thought of as a 'regular' occurance. But, because of these boards, many people think it is something that they can expect.

We did exactly that the last trip to get to CR. We asked the driver the best way to get there from MK & he said it was his next stop, so just stay on the bus.

Bus Drivers start arriving for work about 5:45 and a new group comes in every 15 minutes. By the time the drivers get their bus assignment, walks out to the bus, completes their pre-trip safety inspection and gets their first dispatch about 20 to 30 minutes have passed. So the first busses are out their picking up guests as early as 6:15. Almost the entire fleet is out on the road by 7:00. The majority of the guests riding the buses this early either have ADRs or are going on a tour.

ALWAYS let the bus driver know if your final destination is different from the location he has on his marque. Rarely, if ever, will a driver be denied permission to take a guest to another location. As long as no other guest is inconvenienced and the location of your destination is relatively close to the buses destination. This is not only in the morning but any time of the day. But in the morning will be the most likely time no other guests will be on the bus.

Typical morning non-park ADRs are at POLY, GF and CO(use MK bus) or Cape May at BC(use HS bus) or at BOMA at AKL(use AK bus).

In the case of the OP if no guests are on board on the way to MK then the driver will drop you off at Poly before going to MK. If there are other guests who want to be dropped off at MK then the driver will drop those guests off first then go to the POLY. The bus will most likely be empty leaving MK.

Personally, if I had a car anyway, I would take the car as you won't have to factor in time for waiting for the bus (and for making other stops if that applies to your resort).
If you drive to the TTC, which is sooo close to the Poly, park way over to the left side of the parking lot. At that time of the morning, there very well might not be anyone directing where you should park (there wasn't last time we did this). Even if there is, explain that you are stopping by Poly for breakfast first so could you please park at that side of the lot. My recollection is that the Poly is literally "right there"...a one or two minute walk to the Longhouse (lobby/restaurants) from there. Much faster than going into the TTC and getting a monorail for an extremely short trip.
When finished with breakfast walk back to TTC and board train for Epcot.
Don't take the mono from Poly...you will have to get off at TTC anyway to transfer to an Epcot mono.
At least thats how I would do it!
