What tickets to get

My wife and I each have one day left of a multiday pass from '93. In addition we have 2 single park single day tickets from then (Disney gave them to us because we were told wrong about one of the shuttle busses to Pleasure Island by a CM and conplained to guest services). We have one son who is 6 yrs old, one daughter who is under 2, and us. We asre staying for 5 days (three nights onsite, one offsite). Now the Question: Should we buy three single day single park tickets for us, five for the son or should we buy 4 multidays for all and use the two singlepark, singledays for the son on the first day? What do you think is the better plan and why?

I think your best bet would probably be:

- buy your son a 5-day child's Hopper pass
- use the one day/one park passes for the two adults on the first day
- apply the value of the remaining day on your multi-day Hoppers toward a new 4-day Hopper pass for each of the adults (Guest Services should be able to do the upgrade for you, no problem)

I just noticed that the old Hopper passes with one day remaining are from 1993. That would make the trade-in value low -- it would be better to just use the admission. For that reason, you might see if you can instead upgrade the one-day/one-park passes to 4-day Hopper passes by paying the difference. Normally this would be no problem, but since they were complimentary, Guest Services may or may not be able to do this.

If that doesn't work, you're back to buying three one day/one park passes for each adult. (You know you can get a discount on this, right? It's $5 off on the second day and $10 additional off on the third day if you buy them all on the first day -- with tax you save $15.90 per person). Of course, the down side to this option is that you can't "hop" from park to park.

Someone will correct me on this if I'm wrong, but I don't think your old passes will get you into Animal Kingdom since you purchased them before the park opened. Just thought you might need to know that. ~:)~

It used to be that old multi-day passes weren't good at AK, but I'm told that was discontinued some time ago. I'm pretty sure you can use any multi-day pass at AK now, even if it was originally issued before there was an AK!

However, if your old passes don't have a magnetic stripe on them, you'll have to get Guest Services to reissue them in the new format.

We do not plan on going to Animal Kingdom the first day, we want to get there for the opening in the morning and it will be pushing it to get there that day. So the new tickets could be used for that. We just do not know which would be better. To get single park tickets and plan not to go to two different parks in the same day or to get multipark passes and leave the option open. The big plus to the multipark for us is letting our son choose from all the parks his fave rides on the last day. Kinda let him wear himself out for the drive home so that he will sleep.:D

Our family with young kids REALLY likes to hop. We like to go to one park in the AM and then take a swim/rest break and go to a different park. I would go one of the routes to get park hoppers. If you don't, then save your old park hoppers for the last day when you want to hop around. Either way, you might as well get your son a 5 day child's park hopper and not use adult admission media on him.

If you're not going to park hop (and don't mind bending a rule) buy a 4 day pass for your son and your wife. You would use the 2 one day passes and 1 day each from the 2 left over passes. The passes aren't transferrable (although many people seem to sell them) but I doubt you'll have a problem if you "accidentally" use your wifes ticket. Mary's right you'll get killed on the trade in value.

the hoppers will include AK if you stop at Guest Services and tell them to upgrade you.
Also I vote for the one person using all the passes and just buying one new adult four day hopper. But this will only work if the two one day passes are used on days you dont want to park hop. Plan carefully and this will be your best bet.

We return every year with leftover days on our hoppers and have no idea which ticket belonged to whom...they never ask. As long as there is a day on the pass you are fine. Besides it is within the same family. and you are buying another pass for your spouse so its not like your cheating, just finishing up old passes.

have fun

Don't you normally have to pay a difference in price between the original pass and the "upgraded" pass, or is this a different type of upgrading? ~:)~
