What threads qualify as "budget" related?

A couple of weeks ago I posted a thread on the budget board about the financial difficulties my best friend was going through, looking for some feedback on advice I should give her. Pretty quickly my thread got moved to the community board. This disappointed me because, although I don't post often, I've drawn a lot of good info from the people who post here, and I respect their opinions. I don't really go to the community board because 1)it scared me off a few years ago when there were tons of political threads that got nasty, and 2)there are so many threads that whatever you post gets buried pretty fast.
So, anyway I'm wondering why my thread got punted when I've seen other posts discussing people's financial problems that get to stay? (To be honest, I felt like the unpopular kid at the party)

I completely understand your frustration and this seems to be a subject that gets revisited often. I too feel like the Budget Board is "home" for me and I am right along with you in getting upset when one of my posts gets moved. Ironically it seems when they do get moved I never get any feedback or replies.:confused3 Just more proof in my mind to stay in my own neighborhood - but ultimately it seems to be up to the powers that be. I see a LOT of things on here that are not even remotely budget related yet they remain and other things which are budget related get moved. One thread that immediately comes to mind that has been here a while is the "ignore this thread" (which by the way has been around long enough to become 46 pages long!)- now how in the world can that be construed as budget related? I believe that they do need to establish some very concise and clear guidelines and then stick to those guidelines without fail - picking and choosing just seems to cause issues. Anyway, before I upset any of those powers I think I better get off my box. Just wanted to say that I am with you and understand completely!:goodvibes

lol, you poor thing.... I'm sorry to laugh but the "unpopular kid at the party" statement made me giggle. I have no idea why you post got moved... but I just wanted to let you know you have it better than me: I'm a thread killer. I don't know why but after me it all "goes to pot". I really don't mean to kill your thread on purpose but unfortunately it probably will happen now. I just wanted to tell you that your not alone......

Keep in mind that (a) all the DIS Moderators are volunteers with 'real' lives and commitments; and (b) that the Budget Board has, currently, one Moderator - who, reasonably, can't be expected to catch everything.

Inappropriate, or probably even inappropriately-located, threads can be reported to by clicking on that little white triangle with the red border and the exclamation point inside, and will be reviewed.

Why was your thread moved? Guessing only, but the Budget Forum is intended for ways to save money, ideally (but not solely) to be able to manage a trip to Walt Disney World. It's likely that, whenever possible, threads - even money-related ones - not apparently in this vein would get moved to a more appropriate forum.

Please understand, much of this is my assessment ONLY. Items in blue are facts.
