I just got 2 rolls of 35mm pics developed and both rolls have this red line in two pictures,

ok so this just dawned on me, it was two different cameras, this really has me thinking it could have been something to do with the processing,

Do you think it could have been from the film safe x rays?

it was the last two pics on each roll, would that point to it being a problem with the developing?

That can often happen if the back of the camera gets opened while the film is still inside. If you open it all the way the film is ruined. If you just crack it, you get that.

Your camera likely has a light leak. To have it happen to 2 rolls, I don't think it was accidently opening the camera that caused it. If the back isn't tightly connected you can get these red lines.

while I agree that it is most likely a light leak with your camea, it is odd that it is only 2 frames, rather than every shot,

does your camera shoot in the most common way, where it does indeed start at the beginning of the film, the film then being wound on the take up spool, and then having to be fully rewound after taking all the pics,''or is it one of those that upon the loading of the film it is all automatically wound up on the takeup spool, and then as you take pictures it is rewound into the canister ??

also do you always get your film processed at the same place, if so and it is local, ask the lab techs if they've seen that problem on other films, that way you can eliminate the possibility that it is their film processing machine

Ive hads rolls developed from the same camera taken after these pics were taken and they do not have the red lines,

I just started going to walgreens,

Are they in the middle of the film? Start? or end?

I was always told to never trust the first 2 pics and the last 2 pics on a roll.

I used to work as a manger of a photolab and I have seen people pull out too much film when trying to put it on a card and that way you could lose a few pics.

Maybe they could not take out the film lip the right way and cracked the film in a darkbag or box and let some light in...There could be a lot of reasons. I hope they didn't ruin any PRECIOUS shots (Kids first smile, first look at the Castle, etc...)

Examine the edge of the negatives, looking for the sequence number. Numbers 00, 0, 1, 2, etc. are at the outside of the roll. If the 35mm or APS cassette just sits out in the open (including on the store counter or laboratory table) long enough, enough light seeps in the slit opening to put a discolored top to bottom stripe on one or two layers of film. More of a problem if the slit got aimed at the sun.

For those who have the problem at the beginning of the roll, take an unimportant or even useless shot each time you load the camera. For those who have the problem at the end of the roll, note when the picture counter gets to the last shot and take something unimportant and reload the camera.

actually it almost did ruin an important pic , while I didnt get any great shots of the space shuttle, the red is on my one liftoff pic of the shuttle, its just not as bad as the one above.

I took almost 1000 digitals pics but ended up with 10 rolls of film as well,

I think im done with film, lol I think I saw 2 people with 35mm cameras at wdw and I was one of them :)
