What things do you bring???

Another items that I've heard of people passing onto other is sunscreen. Say you leave and there are "newcomers" into Disney pass on your suntan lotion.

I have a Disney box too! It has our passports, old intinerary, pins and lanyards, pamplets.

I buy sunscreen so we can hit the beach immediately before shopping!

We are awesome at light packing. One small carry-on suitcase each and one personal carry-on [me= purse, dh=laptop, dd=laptop, ds=crafts and toys] NO CHECKED BAGS!

I empty my wallet at home....I don't need my library card and Club Z card in WDW.

We take:

SMALL CARRY-ON SUITCASE

* bathing suit
* half the clothing for the total days; ie: 10 days, only take 5 outfits and mix and match during the trip. Laundry if needed, but usually good at staying clean. [Dollar Tree has nice liquid laundry soap] I only take COMFY clothes.
* knickers for every day
* warm outfit with jacket worn on plane, in case I need a jacket in Florida
* I wear my Disney Crocs and take NO MORE SHOES
* sewing kit
* clippers
* travel sunscreen
* zip locks [for snacks in parks...groceries bought in Florida]

PURSE / LAPTOP CASE

* granola bars
* meds
* mp3
* one book / drawing stuff for the kids
* money
* credit cards
* intinerary
* passports
* drivers license
* park tickets
* video camera....it's a little bigger than a credit card...REALLY!
* cell phone
* house key and car key

THAT'S IT

When we get there we grocery shop and use up EVERYTHING in Florida.

Shopping list:

milk
juice
cereal [something like Apple Jacks, we can't get that here]

bread
PB
jam

wraps
bag of lettuce
bag of shredded
small sour cream
small salsa

cookies [something we can't get here, like Nutter Butters]
fishy crackers
a couple other snacky foods we can't get in Canada

lots of fruits
bag of baby carrots

beer
12 case of bottled water [re-use the bottles]

* if it's a beach trip too, we head to the Dollar Tree for about $5.00 of beach toys and noodles and just leave them there.

At Disney we buy:

t-shirt each
resort mugs
maybe something else special

We also take our pins for trading.

We use LOTS of stuff in Florida....toiletries, microwaves; toaster; cutlery; at the food court

We are the greatest LIGHT packers!

Do you have any problems flying with the trading pins in your carry on? I didn't think we could pack them in our carry on. Nice to know I can do this!!

Does anyone know where you get the over the door shoe organizer, and the single laundry soap boxes?

Try Zellers for the shoe organizer, and I found Tide singles at our Dollar store. I think it is just as easy to put 1 scoop of laundry soap into a ziploc. I did buy the singles, but then I ended up putting them into a ziploc bag to pack them.

Dollarama for both your items!

Dollarama also sells other great travel things:

earphones for the plane [ds9 HATES earbuds so headband ones are good for him....got them at Dollarama]

tiny purses for tickets, room keys and a little cash; hang it off a lanyard and you are HANDS FREE and SECURITY-STOP FREE in the parks!

Blessings, Sandra

You all are amazing! These tips are fabulous!! I have also been advised to bring pump hand soap, dish soap sheets or put some dish soap on small sponges in a ziplock bag to wash our your reuseable cups or a sippy cup for little ones. Allergy Meds too (if need be) or benedryl cream.

Those are great ideas! :thumbsup2 I would have never thought of that.

Thanks for all the great advice!! We're going to Disney for the 1st time in June & everything everyone has suggested is great! Thank you!

Disposeable Rain Ponchos from Walmart ( for wet rides and we give them away to others after the ride):hippie: and coffee to make in our room.

In fact, WalMart has yellow Mickey Mouse and Pink Disney Princess ponchos!! I bought these years ago and they are coming again this year!! Hope we don't need to use them !!!

Extra Batteries!
Extra SD cards for camera!
Power Bar for charging all our electronics!
Baby Powder and Foot Spray for our feet!
Comfy Pants for at night when you just want to flop!

We also have laminated our ADR's to a card and clipped them to our bag along with our days plans- it allowed us to focus and get done what we came there to do! Disney sucks us in and we can wander around just gazing at the details, some of my "must do's" got missed in last trips, this past trip my Must Do list really helped out! I know it sounds crazy and "hey lady are you losing your mind", but this little piece of paper helped me out tremedously - CM told me I should sell them! :lmao:

I cannot find the over the door shoe rack *groan*.....I have hit all 4 of my local Dollarama's, at least 2 times each. I am very frustrated. Should I wait until I hit Bangor maybe? The DollarTree there might have them?

Any thoughts? I don't want to spend any more than $2 on it.

Anyone else in NB who might know where I should look?

Please help!

I print all my adr's and booked things (tours etc) on a wee little calendar, easy to keep track of when we are doing things and what the confirmation #'s are.

I print a little conversion chart for temperature--I can NEVER do the conversion in my head, 80 degree's means nothing to mean..I need to know it in Celcius! We keep it by the TV and then we can check the weather and know what we are in store for.

We all use the same shampoo/hair products/toothpaste. This cuts down on what we need to pack.

A 8.5x11 envelope to bring home all my maps and other memorbialia safely :-)

Large ziplock bags-just a couple-they come in handy if you have to pack a wet bathing suit or anything that might spill.

Individual size laundry detergant and a few sheets of bounch-we usually do laundry once.

My last tip is not a packing one..but near the end of the trip we round up all the change-we always seem to have so much. We send ds with it to the gift shop or arcade--he trades it in for bills or spends it..I hate bringing back all that change and you can't convert it once back.

Not an exact science but to get an approx. conversion:
say 7°C .... times that by 2 and add thirty, appoximately 44°F. that will get you as close as possible without using an actual conversion chart. To go from F to C, just do it backwards. 66°F in Florida is around 18°C in Canadian speak. 66-30/2.
(Wow, my grade 10 science teacher really did teach me something I would use in the future ;) )

On the topic of the over the door shoe organizers, I have been looking in Canadian dollar stores for years. They don't have them (or I keep missing them). I bought one at Canadian Tire for 2.49, it only has six pockets though. Walmart has a bigger one for about 5 bucks.

We get lanyards at the dollarama small packages of resealable wipes to take to the parks Tide to go stick to remove stains
In our emergency kit we take cough medicine ,something for upset stomach ,Gravol , Sunburn lotion , Tylenol /Advil , Band aids ,Blister pads ,

If you are staying at pop or one of the other values look in to getting in on one of the free fridge swaps ( we used ours to freeze partly full water bottles and they stayed cold all day )

When you go (fly) do you take THE absolute largest peice of luggage you can? Is that enough to take, because most of this little stuff won't come back with you? I am flying out (3 of us) and I think if we all take the largest suitcase we are allowed to fly with (DD is age 7 and her clothes are small) then we'll be fine and won't hav eto pay for the 2nd peice.

Check your airlines website for the luggage restrictions-it will tell you how many inches you are allowed in total per bag for both checked and carry on as well as how many pounds.
Nearly every single person I have talked to recently has had to meet the weight restrictions or pay up, so may as well juggle things around at home to make sure each suitcase is under the weight restriction instead of trying to do it at the airport!
When I last checked it was cheaper to take a 2nd suitcase than it was to pay overweight fee’s though.

You are correct, it is much cheaper to pay for the 2nd bag. Our thought is we will pack the 4th bag in another bag in case we need it. Our bags will be heavier going down than coming back. After this weekend, I'll be able to figure it all out.......DD finds out this weekend and I can stop stuffing WDW items and summer clothes in every small space I own.
