Somebody from the States did me a favor and I thought I might send them a little something Canadian to say thank you. But I can't think of what to send that we have here that they wouldn't have there.

The only thing I can think of is Smarties. They don't have them down there. They just have M&M's and Reeses Pieces. The only other thing I can think of is you send them something with the Canadian Flag emblem on it. Hope this helps!

When I go back to the UK I take either Maple Syrup or Maple Cookies/Candy in the shape of a Maple Leaf? Not sure if they have them in the US (the latter) but it sure looks Canadian.

I read somewhere that you can only find Ketchup flavored patato chips in Canada...:cheer2:

Coffee Crisp bars, macintosh toffee, Wine Gums (Good ones). When my parents send presents they send me a buch of the good stuff.

Unfortunately a lot of the candies you mention are actually British (Smarties,Mckintosh's Toffee,Wine Gums etc).
As far as candies being uniquely Canadian....I think Neilson is one maker that comes to mind (Crispy Crunch,Coffee Crisp,Jersey Milk,Mr Big).

Thank you. I will make a list and get some things and make up a little package (that I am sure Canada Post will charge me an arm and a leg for) and send it to them.

Nothing says Canada more than A can of Tim Horton coffee. You can also send a tim mug or something else from the store. If they drink coffe. I'm sure they will like it.

Coffee Crisp bars are legendarily Canadian ....makes us for the disaster known as "Big Turk".

Butter tarts, too ...I stumbled upon them and loved them so much - can't believe they're not available in the US of A...

Interstingly, I find Cdn packaged food (candy bars, frozen stuff by Presidents Choice etc...) to be very high quality and interesting but in general, casual restaurants are a real let down vs US counterparts.

Funny you should mention a Crispy Crunch....we were in Florida for Christmas visiting friends who were originally from Pittsburgh...her husband had a box of Clark chocolate bars sent to her....I tried one and it tasted exactly like a Crispy Crunch...we are going back to Florida in a few short weeks and I have a 4 pack of Crispy Crunch chocolate bars to bring with me for my friend to try.

Also...any of our chocolate tastes "creamier"....we did a Kit Kat challenge...and gave everyone a Canadian Kit Kat and an American Kit Kat....everyone picked the Canadian one as tasting better!!!!!

I always buy maple syrup and Coffee Crisp. If you want something small Dollarama usually has a section with stuff that says Canada on it - pens, fridge magnets etc. Deb

I'm always hesitant to send maple syrup to the US because the New England states are huge producers of it.

I sent a friend some Flakies and Ahhh Caramel's from Vachon.

She loved them and had to hide them from her dh and dks, lol.

American chocolate is bitter and has an after taste.....I don't like it to be honest (particularily Hersheys...yeughh !)

...could be just what you're used to...I'm amused at the affection for Tim Horton's coffee - don't see how anyone could prefer it to Dunkin Donuts coffee - which has legendary status here in the Northeast.
Also, can't stand the low quality, careful or you'll cut your tongue lids at Tim's ....

I personally don't like coffee so I wouldn't prefer one to the other, what I find interesting is you like to stick your tounge in the hole on the lid.

Yep, good ol' butter tarts. We always take a few dozen stateside to our relatives for family reunions.
