OK, I am so frustrated right now! :(After a five year hiatus we decided to head back to Disney because we love going for MNSSHP and F&W. Well there is NOTHING, no inventory at a deluxe for any of our dates. Our preference is the Poly as that is where we have always stayed and loved but I have a feeling that DVC is why I am having so many issues.

Ok well then, rant over....hopefully my TA can come up with something that is not $1500 a night at the GF which is all that is available at this point. :sad2:

So long Poly, you have finally ticked me off enough that I have decided to move on from you and maybe that is a good thing.

Earlier this spring Disney released room discounts as well as free dining for Sept. and October. Plus many school districts across the county have fall break in October. Both of these combine to decrease room availability in the fall. I can tell you that the fall is more crowded now than it was 5 years ago, at least IMO.

Most people going in the Fall have booked their trips months ago. You can't expect to get what you want booking only one or two months in advanced. It's not DVC's fault that you're not getting what you want... you probably should have booked earlier.

I am getting that vibe for sure. We were there early August for a business trip for my husband and spent one day at the MK and we were able to ride just about everything we wanted in that one day. It was crowded but not crazy crowded.

The upside is this will finally get us to tray another resort I guess.

The first week is also Gartner IT, which uses probably 1,000 rooms on campus, mostly deluxe.

We book our Fall trips now between 7 and 11 months ahead now. There is no way you're going to get a fair priced room at a very popular resort 3 months out. Your're going to have to see what's available and make a decision whether to go or not.

How long were you looking to stay? If you break up your dates, you may see split-stay resorts available. While it may not be ideal for you, it may be an option. But I've learned that the new norm for the fall is to book early. You may seem some cancellations when the full balance is due.

Maybe now it is like that but it did not used to be. Most of our trips were booked within a few months prior. Times have changed, I get that. But I am not backing down on the fact that DVC has taken up a lot of inventory.

Just a 4-5 night stay. We are exploring other options. I remember one of our trips in October. I think 2009? I felt like we had all the parks to ourselves at times and the Poly too! The kiddo is older so no more taking out of school for a week like we used to. I will have my TA look into the split stay option. That may be doable? Thanks!

I just booked a trip for Oct (Fall Break week) yesterday. So there's stuff out there. And I didn't book GF.
It's tight, I'll admit that. But there are still quite a few choices and not all of them expensive.

I guess I'm missing your point, but I don't know what DVC has to do with regular room inventory. Aren't they two different sets of rooms ???

Many of the Poly rooms were converted to DVC since my last visit. That is basically my point about DVC. I having nothing against DVC but it has clearly affected the amount of rooms available at the Poly at any given time. Clearly my late summer whims of booking a fall trip at the Poly are no longer feasible. I get to whine a little

It was only 3 longhouses. It was not half the resort or more.

I'm not going to deny that I am a deluxe fan. We don't vacation often but I may be converted this trip! We will see. Congrats on your trip! I hope to be doing a happy dance soon myself! :flower1:

You can also check the Swan. We especially like the alcove rooms but even their regular rooms are nice. It is convenient to Epcot and HS and you get most of the same benefits as the official Disney hotels. We haven't tried the Dolphin because we prefer the atmosphere of the Swan.

You might have some luck booking via a third party website rather than directly from Disney, I know that has worked for me a couple times in the past when I couldn't find what I wanted directly from Disney.

Have you considered moving to the Epcot resorts. Check Swan/Dolphin.

These are all options I will consider. See, I just need to get myself out of my comfort zone. :thanks:
