What the! What is up with Southwest this morning!

I am up at 5am can't sleep. I go and wait at the PC for the new flight schedule. It finally comes through and from MCO to PHL is $240! and there is only 3 times available for the whole day!
What is up with that? I am so aggravated right now. It is now 6:40 nothing is changing, I am going back to bed!
I hope it is better at some point. We purposely made our reservations to come home on a Monday to be cheaper. This isn't cheaper.
We are flying on a Friday and got the rate of $148 and a Monday is going to be $240? I don''t think so.

Anyone else getting crazy prices and availablilty?

This happened to me on Sat. It was only showing 1 flight out of Cleveland and the night before there were at least 7-8 flights for the day I wanted to book. It took like an hour for the flights to finally show up.


BTW Mondays are not the cheaper days. Tue and Wed are the cheaper days to fly on SWA I assume you are booking for Monday April 6 but if you look at Mondays in March and then look at Tue or Wed in March you will see Tue and Wed are cheaper. Plus the Monday you want to book is a day after Easter which I going to be a higher priced day to fly.

same here our of Long Island!!

First the Tools section showed flights were open through Apr 6th (as of 6am), but when I went to book it only showed March 6.

About 6:20 it finally showed through Apr 6 but for 4/2 it listed all flights but only 3 of the 8 had wann get away rates. Not sure if they werent offered on the other or sold out. Not sure how they sold out as they werent showing up before 2 book


however leaving thurs or Fri before easter it was $313. Sat of easter I could have gotten $232 but then I lose 2 days at the park. stinks because 4/1 still had $113 flights!!

Wasn't going to book because cost $1200 for 4 people one way but I think this is the new norm for Southwest. Especially during holidays.

Hope they go lower before my return trip comes out for 4/12. Dont want to spen $2400 for flights!

I had to book for 5 people and it showed no non stop morning flights for RR for sat from phl to mco ugh! then i put us in 2 then 2 then 1 and got my 7:20 departure. Glad I kept a clear head! Coming back had to book an early departure at 9:15am but thats ok by the end of the trip we will probably be sick of each other!

Well it's 4.5 hrs later and still the same out of 15 flights on March 16th from MCO to PHL 3 of the non-stop flights are the only flights showing. Which is what I want but, stil $240! I am praying there is a glitch. Why only 3 flights available and so much?

OK, I called SWA to ask if there is some kind of glitch happening that all weekend is sold out or unavailable. Fri.-Mon. only has 3 non-stop flights available. They are telling me, no glitch that flights are sold out! She says you know its Spring Break. I said, yea, but at exactly the times opened up I was on and all weekend was already sold out? she says, yup! UGH...I hope she is wrong. I don't know what to do. My DH says wait and if they don't open we'll drive home. I NEVER get up and book the second they come out. This trip I did because I didn't want to play the wait and see game and now I still have to do it

We did get the flight going on March 6th. we just need to get home.

We wound up leaving Chgo on Friday instead of Thursday because every Thursday flight was over $300pp one way. That's nuts. There was a really early Friday flight for $146 (the rest were over $300 also - made me wonder if there was a glitch), but anyway that's what we booked.

I'd still rather leave Thursday, but unless prices for that day drop, it won't happen.

I was hoping for around $300pp/rt, not $400. With 4 tickets that adds up fast. Even though I'm disappointed, it's still less than the flights from Ohare (around 600+pp/rt this morning). I'll just need to get over it, but sheesh!

Southwest is changing and their merger with AirTran is also causing disruption. They aren't the only game in town; there are many other airline choices, often with lower fares.

I know, we are buying 5 tickets and we would have came home Sunday but after last yr we know that Monday would be cheaper. So we booked room and made plans to leave Monday this year and now this. The week before on Monday is $120.00. it is just so odd that the following weekend is sold out eveytime and what is left is so high. Just not making sense.

Yup, same thing here. We were looking to do 4/3 thru 4/10 out of Islip (so much easier, and usually cheaper, than doing JFK). Was thinking I was going to get a low $100's when I got up this morning and started refreshing. SHOCKED that all of Friday was $313 - 5 flights, extra $1000 ONE WAY over what I was hoping for!!!!

Booked the Saturday afternoon down but what a terrible start to the trip planning. Was trying to do the first-thing Friday flight (btw, what happened to the flight times? Used to be a 6:30 down to MCO!), now we're on a Saturday afternoon flight so we're not in MCO til 5 pm - waste of a day! Have over a month to figure out what to do re: return flights, at least.

Ugh. Going to keep refreshing.

I think I was too busy freaking out over the Friday rates and didn't check Saturday right away (went backwards a day), so I probably missed the 183 on Saturday AM entirely (otherwise would've booked em too!).

Ugh. I'm not too upset about ultimately what I'm paying, but if I was going to pay 200/per, I would've expected to at least get the flight I wanted - I somehow lost 40 hours off my vacation this morning!

I'm going Oct 18 to 24 PIT-MCO, it showed unavailable when they first came out for the 18th. A couple of weeks later, reasonable fares showed up, I got $316 round trip.

Did you try looking out of BWI? PHL is not a hub for Southwest anymore so alot of the non-stop flights are out of BWI now. We are also not happy!

Thanks DebbieB, I think that's what we are going to do. We have time. So my DH says to wait and see what happens.

Thanks emilymad, if waiting doesn't change we will look into other airports too.

I was up before they released also. What was weird was the website said that the schedule had been extended but to actually book online it still wasn't extended. I called and they said sorry it was only open for the agents right then. I guess thats one of the reasons flights can be sold out right when they open.
