Don't believe all the nonsense about new lighting or a digitial soundtrack.

There are two possible scenarios in my mind

1.) They are converting it into a Buzz Lightyear type ride where you get to shoot the doll targets.

Or and frankly more likely

2.) The CIA and the FBI have taken it over as a new form of extracting information from prisoners. Basically, they sit you in the boat and won't let you out until you tell them what they need to know.

Any other ideas? (I love the ride BTW - am confronting its closure with some lame humour :D )

I'm sure my boys would be happy if that were the case! I don't think they were too thrilled with me for "making" them ride it in February, lol. They thought it was Boring, yes, with a capital B, but could have been much better if they gave you something to throw at the dolls along the way...beanbags, baseballs, whatever.

Personally, I like it!

A funny story. We were sitting behind a man and woman from somewhere in the far east, and as the ride started out he had his camera out and took multiple photographs of the little speaker on the right just before you go in--LOL.

Maybe Disney noticed that this speaker has been getting photographed a lot, and wants to dress it up for future photo opportunities :)

Actually it is not a REHAB at all..The little dolls lost their jobs in Disney cutbacks and are all now on the Unemployment line singing that song over, and over and over....:earboy2: :earboy2: :earboy2:

Sorry I could not resist...:p

I hear rumours over at WDWMagic that Disney are going to replace the unemployed dolls with kids who get lost in the Magic Kingdom Car Park. And here's the best part - these stray kids don't have a union. Result!

I'm thinking option #2 might be credible ;) A couple of years ago, I was at MK marking time while my car was being repaired at the Car Care Center (I know, it's tough). Since it was only about 40 degrees out, I decided I'd duck into Small World, since I had not been on that ride in years. It was a quiet day in MK, so I was seated in the back of a pretty empty boat-- there was only a couple seated in the front row (with bride/groom mouse ear hats-- this should have been a warning). Well, wouldn't you know the ride stopped in the finale room and we were stuck there for about 15-20 minutes. Not only did that song get stuck in my head for days, the couple up front .. err, umm . . .

I think I would have told anyone anything to get off the ride that day :D

I heard it's not going to re-open. Where do you think they're putting all of that 2KL water?

Thanks for the great laugh. We all LOL over this one (and we love the ride, too). It's just fun to pick on.

My husband and daughters are relieved that it will be closed this August during our trip. Every time we visit the MK I make them ride It's a Small World with me due to sentimental reasons. The first time I went to Disneyland in CA was when I was 5 years old and I was basically scared of my own shadow. First, we went on the Jungle Cruise ~ it scared the pants off me. Next, we went on the Pirate ride ~ I almost couldn't breathe I was so terrified. Then we went into the Tiki Room ~ I was sure that those birds were going to come down and peck my head (was I a lame little kid or what?). Haunted Mansion ~ what more can I say? Anyway, after that I refused to ride anymore rides in that "scary place". My mother finally talked me into riding IASW. I just loved it. My family rode it about 4 times in a row just because it was finally something that I could ride without crying.
I'll miss it this summer.:(

I still laugh at myself today,

I haven't been since 1989:( , but it was my first trip and as you could image quite excited after waiting 19 years:Pinkbounc I get on the ride and we go through and I was thrilled to see everything I started taking snapshots with my little camera. I had 36 shots going in I ran out of film in the beginning of the last room.LOL:hyper: I couldn't believe it and the lady behind goes you know they have video camera's for times like this. I felt like big nerd:crazy: . But I was a big nerd with a lot of pictures of an attraction that will be closed in November when I return 15 years later. Who's the nerd now...

Okay, I guess it is still me LOL:hyper: Long live the little dolls:wave2:

Okay, you guys are twisted....... :worship:I like that in a discussion board

NOPE you're all wrong.....

The dolls have been singing for so many years that they have raging sore throats and have caught tonsilitis from guests whilst in the vulnerable sore throat position, therefore each and every doll is having their tonsils removed, and that's a lotta tonsils and a lotta operating time!!!:Pinkbounc

Actually, it was discovered that nearly all of the character dolls voted "NO CONFIDENCE" in a recent employee poll...

They are being reprogrammed to chant "It all started with a Michael..." and "Quarter meester! The dolls that will ask for money are being retrofitted by the same company who did the "CHUCKY" dolls for the movie.

The soundtrack is also being completely digitally rerecorded. It will now contain additional subliminal messages.

Did anyone ever listen to the original soundtrack played backwards?

I think they finally figured out there was nothing evil about the ride (other than it being dark) and found that unacceptable. This past April, I spent a half hour trying to convince my 3yo (after getting off of the Pooh ride) really there is nothing scary about this ride. I know I said that about Pooh. Who knew Pooh would be scary. Even though I knew my 3yo DD was a scardy cat, I did not realize how scary Disney would be for her. I should have waited another couple of years for her.
