OK, today at the mall, I saw the oddest thing and cannot figure it out.:confused3 Of course, the "age gap" probably has a lot to do w/things ... but I consider myself a pretty "hip and with it" adult when it comes to fashion trends. This one still has me scratching my head in confusion!!!

I walked by Abercrombie and Fitch today and, at the doorway was an employee -- a young lady (prob. 18-ish) and she was wearing super short shorts, a tank top, a down vest (the puffy ski-type kind), leg warmers and flip flops.

I just sort of shook my head in confusion. Is this a new trend? I just do not get the leg warmers w/shorts and flip flops. And, a tank top w/a down vest type thing.

Then again, this is Buffalo, NY where, by Jan., we're usually covered in snow. But, this Jan., we're in 50* temps and no snow to be found. Maybe the weather has this girl confused?!!? :confused3

ETA: I wanted to take her picture w/my cell phone but didn't want to embarrass her (or me!)!!!!

nope..thats the style....winter yet beachy. I however dont wear flipflops when wearing an outfit like that....boots do better

but it could be the weather....

 Say it ain't so!!! Leg warmers are BACK??! Some trends should be left to our fond memories and not brought back. Can you tell I'm a not-so-hip thirty-something? :lmao:

Oh good Lord...:rotfl: Perhaps her closet threw up on her. :rotfl2: It sounds horrid.

I'm just 25 and I do not understand fashion trends today...I usually think they are laughable.

We live in Wisconsin so our winters usually are cold and snowy. The girls at DD's high school wear flip-flops with short skirt in winter all the time. I haven't seen any leg warmers yet but who knows, maybe they are coming back. The first time DD went to school in flip-flops when there was snow on the ground I thought she was crazy, but now I see it all the time.:confused3

This one was absolutely laughable!!!!! Both DH and I almost choked when we saw her!!!!!

Its funny you say this cause I was in the mall a few days ago and the girls in Hollister and Abercrombie were dressed just like you described! A new fashion statement or a NY thing?:lmao:

The wierdest thing about the leg warmers is that they weren't really bunched up around the ankles ... but pulled up high onto the leg ... at least to the knee or a tiny bit above. V. strange!!!!!

Yeah, I'd heard legwarmers were making a comeback. :rotfl2:
Oh, and low-slung bell-bottom pants are out, and pencil-thin legs are in.

Yeah, the legwarmers are back. Hollister and Abercrombie both sell them. I think they look like silly wool socks, and it just makes the girls that wear them look like they don't know how to dress themselves

The pencil thin legs have been in since Sept. ... and they're low-rise, too. Just bought a 2nd pair at Banana Republic b/c they're soooo cute (and on sale!).

I saw someone wearing flip flops in downtown Boston today and I thought that was insane. Now I know it was 55 degrees today, but really, these were thin, beachy flip flops. Not even the good Crocs Athens version, which I might not think was so strange. But bright yellow, well-worn flip flops so the soles of her feet were almost touching the ground. WEIRD!

I thought it was odd till I had a look around the internet to find its actually pretty common.

It must be a Hollister/Abercrombie thing because when we tortured ourselves and went in there to buy DD a Christmas present all the sales girls were dressed like that. DH started singing the Flashdance song and every one thought he was weird (he is weird but they didn't get it). :rotfl2:
