What temperature do you run your A/C at?

Around 72 or so. Life's too short to be hot. :goodvibes

I say that now, sitting in an office that's usually about 60 degrees. I can't believe I actually had to bring a sweatshirt into work to wear during the day! I am ALWAYS the one complaining about how hot it is.

Usually somewhere between 72 and 78. Depending on the time of day, who's home and what we're doing.

Usually 65-68. However if the price of fuel keeps going up will we just be one big sweaty family!;)

I just read some repsonses. If I kept the temp at 78 I would combust from the heat! I cannot take it that hot in the house in the summer.

78. When it gets to be 110 outside, 78 feels like an arctic breeze. Of course here in California most of us have thin blood that isn't used to extreme cold, so generally it takes a lot less to feel cool and comfortable.

Usually around 75 during the day, and maybe a little cooler at night. We have the ceiling fan directly about us in the bedroom, so sometimes I don't turn the a/c down.

Do any of you who keep it below 78 live in FL?

What kind of bills are you paying with those temps? My bill is astronomical and we keep it set pretty warm....never, ever below 78.

We are in Orlando and we keep ours on 77, pretty much day and night. Our bill is about $160. We were keeping it at about 75 and the bill was much higher so we decided that 77 would be just fine!

Our electric bills in CA are insane. We have two units and last year we had one bill top out at 1070 dollars. Yes that much. We have ours set at 78 and if my kids weren't so babied I would have it set higher. We have ceiling fans in every room and are home most of the day so we really need the air when it gets up to almost 120 degrees here in the summer. I am thinking of having more insullation blown in the house to cut cooling costs.

I live in Florida. 77 during the day, 74 at night and our last bill was about $160. But we have a small house, about 1400 sq. ft.. We did get new windows that cut the bill by about $40 a month. It's amazing how much air those old style windows let out. We really were air conditioning the neighborhood.

Wow, you guys with the $160 bills for low temps are making me jealous! We're SW FL and we have it up to 84 from 8am to 4pm...78 from 4pm to 11pm...80 from 11pm to 8am. Our bills are always over $200 per month and that's on the budget billing. Our house is right about 2000 sq ft. Do you guys have FPL or some other company?

I have Progress Energy. If you have one of the older Florida homes, I highly recommend getting new weather windows. They're made for hurricane winds and really lock the a/c in. But I think if my home was your size, the bill would be around $200.

We keep ours around 72° here south GA. I have an older house that needs more insulation, so the power bill is higher than most.

Right now it is freakin HOT out. This week we will be around 100 all week.:scared1: I have the AC set on 74. We have an older home, built in the 20's. So some rooms may be feel 78 while others feel 70. If we are hot, we stand in the kitchen. If we are cold, we stand in the office.

We keep it set at 74 day and night (used to be at 70-72, but cost has made me turn it up a bit). We definitely pay higher A/C bills than heat- I won't turn the thermostat up higher than 62 in the winter (I'm very hot natured, so I'm comfortable at 62)! We have electric cooling and gas heat and a house built in 2000- the power bill in the summer averages about $170/month. Gas bill in the winter is usually around $130/month or so.

Ours is not what I'd consider an "older" home. Built in 1983. And we did replace windows back in 2000 so I'd say we're good there. Anyway, didn't mean to hijack the thread, just can't believe how low some of you keep your a/c!

We just replaced all of the windows in our house. I'm sure it will help with cooling costs, but it's just so hard to figure out exactly how much.

I keep it 76-80 during the day when I'm not home, and 74-76 when I'm hanging out. I sometimes turn it down to 73 if I'm wanting to sleep happily! :thumbsup2 I live in a small apartment so my electricity is cheap!
