We are going to add on the Disney Dining Plan to our DVC stay in June. I am about to make reservations for our table service meals. Can you give any of your favorites? I have children too, so your favorite Character Dining place as well.

Thanks.

Oh boy. Here is a list of our favorites in no particular order. We were on the dining plan last year and it was wonderful. We got to experience a lot of food that we would not normally purchase. You will love it but it is a lot of food :)

LeCellier
Rose & Crown
Boma
Chef Mickey's Bfast & Dinner
Crystal Palace Bfast and Dinner
Cape May Cafe clam bake

Everything above plus Liberty Tree Tavern :).

Here are my favorites:
50s Prime Time Cafe
Le Cellier
Coral Reef
Teppenyaki
Kona Cafe
Sci-Fi Dine Inn
Hoop Dee Doo Revue (even though it's more than a sit-down!)

We were on the Dining Plan last year as well & absolutely loved it. DH said he'd never go to WDW w/o it again. It's a lot of food, but it's nice having everything pre-paid & not having to worry about anything once you get there.

Anyway, here's where we ate last year (Mickey Ears are by our favorites) --

Breakfasts:

Chef Mickey's at the CR - I'd do it again, just because it's Chef Mickey's. However, DH wasn't impressed w/ the buffet & the characters seemed rushed. I thought it was fun place, though, & you really can't beat the setting if you have kids. In addition to the napkin-twirling & general "fun", our kids loved watching the monorail run through. This year, we're trying dinner.

:earsboy: Cinderella's Royal Table in MK - We LOVED it! This was our favorite breakfast. It was my DD's favorite character meal. I thought the food was really good; DH just thought it was okay (who knew he'd turn out to be such a food critic? ) The characters were wonderful! However, it's changing in February, so I'm looking forward to some new reviews. This year, we currently have a lunch booked, but I may cancel if the reviews aren't good.

Trail's End Buffet at Fort Wilderness - Typical buffet breakfast items, quaint & relaxing atmosphere, not very crowded. Nice value. I'd only do again if I were paying out of pocket.

Lunches:

:earsboy: Crystal Palace - This was another one we loved! Our very favorite buffet - lots of yummy selections. The characters were wonderful!

Dinners:

:earsboy: Boma at the AKL - Wonderful setting, unique items on the buffet (but still enough "American" selections to satisfy picky eaters) - the children's selections were quite good as well. The desserts were so delicious! I fell in love w/ the zebra domes. This year, I don't currently have an ADR here (because I'm out of days & TS credits), but, the more I think about it, the more I want to add it. It was the perfect "ending" to our AK day. We got there early & walked around the AKL, looking at the animals which our kids really enjoyed.

Hollywood & Vine in MGM - This is the restaurant we chose for our FDP. This year, we're trying Mama Melrose's. I've read mixed reviews for both places. However, neither DH nor I were impressed w/ the buffet at Hollywood & Vine, so we want to try something new. The "retro Hollywood" setting is cute though.

:earsboy: Liberty Tree Tavern in the MK - This was our very first meal at WDW, and it was the perfect introduction to Disney World! The characters were wonderful, and the food (except for the mac & cheese) was really good too! The Declaration Salad was my favorite!

'Ohana at the Poly - This would have been better had we not had to wait over 45 minutes (and this was w/ an ADR). Our table had a nice view of the castle, and the food was good. Our server was a little snooty about bringing our kids something they would eat but then, later, he made up for it by bringing them several little paper umbrellas. This one is a lot of people's favorite, but, w/ the menu changes, I left it off our list this year.

PSB Dinner at Akershus (Norway) in Epcot - Lovely setting, good character interaction, but we didn't prefer the food. This year, we're trying breakfast here.

Jiko's - without doubt the best restaurant on site.

Cape May and Sci-Fi were my kids favorites on our last trip. Ages 2, 12, 15. Our middle son loves steamed clams, he had the chance to really go nuts at Cape May and the little deserts were fantastic!

FYI, the breakfast at Akershus are not really much better than the dinners. however it did not matter to our daughter that was really there for the princess's~!

Returned home Jan 14th for an 8 day trip at disney. During that we ate a lot of good meals. We have eaten at many more the last 5 years since our honeymoon. Let me give you a quick idea.

Boma. Great food which is DIFFERENT AND tasty. If you dont like less than traditional meals, this may not be for you. If you like exploring new tastes, this and Kona, are wonderful places to eat dinner.

O'hana. Almost has a Brazilian Grill feel. You are served family style, all you can eat salads, wings and shrimp for appetizer, and skewers of Wood fired, poly style turkey, steak, pork, sausage, etc. Potatoes and beans, and a wonderful dessert, all of which is all you can eat. Lots of food, great atmosphere, great view of magic kingdom.

Whispering canyon cafe. Family style again, or you can order from the menu, ribs, chicken potatoes, salad, beans slaw, etc. Wonderful meal.. All you can drink milkshakes for 5 bucks too. wow. you can only drink 1, sooo thick, sooo good.

cape mays. clam bake. clams and shrimp all u can eat. other american dishes as well including prime rib etc. very tasty

chef mickeys. traditionally a favorite for the character interaction. mickey donald goofy, chip , dale, minnie all come to the table, which is a plus. food good, great desserts. not the best buffet, but a great meal with characters.

norway breakfast with princesses. pretty decent breakfast, all u can eat. expensive, 77 dollars for 2 adults, 1 child. paying for the princesses.(who do a great job)

mama melrose, great atmosphere, great food. people have complained here, i have never had a bad experience here, tasty food, nice service, fantasmic package gives you reserved seats to the show. italian tuscan food, mmmm.

italy at epcot. different.. we had a bad experience.. didnt like the server or the food here. i have heard many say good things, just not one of mine.

tempanyaki, japan at epcot. japanese steakhouse, hibachi style. great food and flavor, good presentation. in my opinion, if you have been to one, you have been to all the japanese places. good food though.

prime time cafe, good food, diner style. 50s style diner, with pot roast etc on the menu. waitress acts like mother, and enforces lots of rules. real fun.

cinderellas royal table. character meal, great experience to do once, but not the place to go for food necessarily. being in the castle is fun though

artist point, awesome awesome food. two table services required. classy and tasty

california grill, same as artist point. our favorite meal. best filet in the world. so , soo good.

been to more, out of time writing. If you need more help, pm me.

josh

My favorite character meal is dinner at LTT. CM is good for dinner as well but I prefer the family style service at LTT. But the characters are great at both ;) I also like Sci-Fi Dine in, 'Ohanas and CRT for dinner. Although when we did CRT when it was only 1 TS credit.
