We are planning a trip to wdw/fla and was wondering what Suite Hotel would you recommend and which one's you wouldnt???
We are a family of 5 so we need a suite hotle that sleeps 5 in a comfortable manner and are planning to stay off site this year and havent stayed off site in a long time so any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

When the search feature is usuable ( during off hours ) do a search for keyword- Holiday Inn Family Suites or HIFS. It's a good starting point. Many extras you don't find at on-site resorts.

any more details?

how much you want to spend or what amenities you are looking for?

I just stayed at Amerisuites Calypso Cay for $44. It was nice, and I can give you more details, but it was not a true 2 room suite(only a partial wall).
Have had great luck renting a condo through Skyauction.

I have not stayed there YET myself, however I will be in April...I have posted on here regarding the resort- you will find the post on either the 2nd or 3rd page....nobody on here had a negative comment about it. and neither did anyone on tripadvisor.

It's a manufactured home set up like a cabin...its' location is an rv resort, similar to disneys wilderness I suppose....has 2 pools, housekeeping, 2.5 miles from Disney's main gate...near old town

best part during april- read spring break...we are paying 79.00 per night, for the 2 bedroom..which has the 2 bedrooms- and also a loft...this could sleep 7-8 I presume..

Im not that worried about price or having a second room that cant be seen from the rest of the room.
Just looking for Suite hotel that sleeps 5 and has nice amenities, ie-swimming pool, full or partial breakfest and that is nice and clean and not too far away from wdw/usf. Looking for feed back from places that people stayed at and what they liked/didnt like about them.

I'd suggest HI Family Suites we stayed there in 10/02 & plan on going back in 11/04... They will be renovating it into a Nickeloden themed hotel but at present (at the kidsuites end) they have a great zero depth entry pool that was huge, a free full breakfast buffet that was great to fill up on - took us through most of the day until dinner! (usually just grabbed a quick snack at the parks) and when we stayed, we had a package deal that gave us our dinners for free as well... so we saved a ton of $ on meals!! The rooms were plenty big enough.. a private queen bedroom, a curtained off kids bedroom with bunkbeds or twins, a pull out sofa in the living room, a small kitchenette area, 3 tv's... plus it is very close to the parks! Good luck & happy planning!

Anyone know when they're renovating HIFS? We're looking at staying there in July '04. Will it be done by then?

I emailed them with my concerns about the stage of renovation during my 11/04 stay & this is the response I got...
HTH!

"Thank you for choosing to stay with the Holiday Inn Family Suites
Resort. Yes, our resort will be going through an exciting
transformation these next 15 months. During the month of November 2004, tentatively we should have at least one of our new pools open. There will always be one pool open during our entire renovation process. November we will hopefully be nearing the end of our renovations. I assure you we will try to make your stay during this time as comfortable and as fun as possible.

Please let me know if I can help you further.

Thanks for the info on HIFS!!!

I would recommend HIFS as well. It is a great hotel, great breakfast, great rooms, good pool really nice for kids, great location only seconds from Disney and very clean and comfortable. All rooms have multiple tv's and have a vcr and in the lobby where the arcade is they have a video rental machin and you can rent movies and they have a card and for one price you can rent all you want for a set amount of days. They have all different kinds of suites, my personal favorite is the sweetheart suite, check out their website http://www.hifamilysuites.com/. HIFS is where I usually stay before heading to a Disney resort because I love the suites and ammenities that I can't get at Disney especially not for the price. I would also recommend Caribe Royal. This is a beautiful hotel , also with a good free breakfast buffet, a great pool with water fall and slide- it is really awesome. The rooms are beautiful and very spacious. This hotel is elegant and I loved staying here. I hope this helps!!!:Pinkbounc

In the past 2 years, we've stayed at Days Suites Maingate East Old Town. It is cheap and old, but a great value and a very spacious room. They do not, however, include breakfast.

Right next to that is the Quality Suites. That is usually more expensive than Days but does include a decent breakfast - nothing fancy but more than adequate.

Several years ago, we stayed at the Homewood Suites in Kissimmee. That was very nice and had a great breakfast buffet.

Haven't stayed at this actual property though have visited it - Residence Inn in LBV. Pretty new and quite nice. I've stayed at RI's other places and although the rooms are a bit small for our taste, they are very nice.

Finally, consider renting a condo or pool home. We just got back from a week at Windsor Palms. We rented a 3-bedroom, 2-bath condo (they have 2-bedroom units also). We paid $90/nite. Its a beautiful complex less than 2 years old. No free breakfast but you can easily stop at the supermarket and pick up some stuff to eat in the condo.

Actually - on another thread I've discovered that Caribe Royal no longer offers the free breakfast buffet.
