Hey gang,

I know not everybody is a fan of split stays so I hope this doesn't turn into a debate as to whether to do them or not...

The cast of characters for this upcoming trip I am planning is myself and my hubby who is turning 40. We're getting away to celebrate his birthday, check out Star Wars weekends and support our friends in some GD festivities.

So what option would you chose for a split stay? :confused3 And while you are at it what section of the resort would you request... We are OK with BLT we have our request in but we have not stayed at the other resorts listed so I'd love your opinions.

We've done split stays. We've done VWL/OKW, BWV/OKW, BWV/AKV. Upcoming BLT/OKW. We try to do a busier resort first then go to relax.
We are doing the F+W in Nov then off to AKV.
For Star Wars I would pick BCV or BWV to be close to DHS then a more laid back resort like OKW to celebratre the B'Day. It is jut a short boat ride to many great restaurants at DTD.
Have great trip and Happy Birthday!.

I would choose BWV/BLT. To be honest I really DISLIKE split stays. So, I'd try to stay at BWV for the entire stay, or BLT the entire stay if possible.

Can I ask why you would do a split stay? Is it just to check out the other accommodations? I would hate to have to pack up everything and move 1/2 way thru our stay. Just curious.

Haha, there goes your hope for not having a debate about split stays :rotfl2: We are doing a triple split stay, starting in a studio, going to THV's then back to a 1 Bedroom....but that is mostly because friends are joining us in the middle, so a move was necessary either way. I am liking that I have not stayed at any of the resorts we are going to (stayed at SSR but not THV) and we get to try them out.

I would got BWV and BLT...figure with adults it would be nice to have all the sutff at BWV and being close to Epcot and then change over to being near MK......have the best of both worlds. As for areas, can't help, we are staying at BWV's first time this trip.

Partly we want to check out other places, partly because my husband requested it and partly just because we want to. :) As I said I don't want this to turn into a debate on split stays. We like to experience new stuff now and then. With Disney resorts; they are so different from one and other you get a whole new experience. :thumbsup2

We don't unpack and hang stuff other than our jackets or put stuff in drawers... Call us odd but we basically take things out of the suitcase we want to wear and put back other stuff into the suitcase we don't and anything dirty goes into a plastic laundry bag. It's probably the military training background. We area always able to grab all our belongings and move on order. :rotfl::lmao:

LOL I know! I thought I'd at least get a few posts before the first post questioning our decision. :lmao::rotfl:

Do we always do split stays -- No. Will we do one this upcoming trip -- Yes. :)

Ok I know I am not a DVC owner but I voted anyway hope it is ok. I picked BWV. I didn't choose WLV because BLT is in the MK area. OKV is the DVC that I really would like to try but I think you should be by the Studios & BWV have been getting some great reviews lately. And we enjoy split stays when at WDW.

We have done split stays a few times and I love them but wife hates them due to packing/unpacking several times.

Of your choices I would go for BWV/BLT

I picked your first option.. ..BCV/BLT because that is the split we did last month.

We loved it!!!

Sorry, really wasn't trying to start a debate:guilty:, was just curious on the split stay concept. Can understand about wanting to try out the different villas/resorts. We don't own DVC, so can only go about every other year, though this year, we are buying AP's, and will go at least 3 times in 2011.

I like split stays for the record. ;)

I say BCV or OKW. Both have a laid back feel- like a vacaton within a vacation. :cloud9:

Wow! Boardwalk definitely has an overwhelming response :)

I voted BWV/BLT simply because that is what we have planned for our next trip. An adults only trip for Food and Wine and MNSSHP. Check out this thread regarding Garden/Pool views at BWV (that was our only option for a room at the 7 month mark). http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2420305

Thanks for the link..,. the photo in there does make the "Village Green" make more sense now that I know where it is from the photo in your above link that explains it. :)

I am going on keep on crossing my fingers I can somehow snag a BW view but I'll be happy with Poo/Garden if that is all I can get. :thumbsup2

LOL has for a long walk we stayed at Kidani last year I understand the long walk concept :lmao::lmao:

We have never done a split stay, and based on your selection BLT will be one of them.

One of our goals is to stay at all the resorts, so I voted for VWL and BLT. We have not stayed at either resort yet (we stayed at WL but not the Villa's prior to being DVC members).

But - I am thinking that splitting b/t BWV or BCV would be more interesting as it would put you right in EPCOT for that part of the stay, and you get the monorail/MK experience with BLT.

We always do split stays, and plan to with BLT like you are looking at. That way we can concentrate (not exclusively) on MK those days, then an EPCOT resort for EPCOT/DHS (AK is a 1/2 day total for us). That said we usually prefer BCV over BWV, but the kids (older) love SAB. So I can see BWV being a great choice for you 2. We would choose BWV if BW View is available for sure in this case. Happy planning.

We just came back from a BCV/BLT split and I voted for that. We loved how easy it was to enter Epcot from BCV, even just to go view the fireworks.

But, because it is also close to the Boardwalk, we got to enjoy that atmosphere at night as well.

The walk from BCV to DHS was only 30 minutes, and that was from our room to the front gate. Last summer, when we stayed at BWV, it was 20 minutes.

But, since Epcot was the park we would visit more often while at that location, we preferred BCV.

I also liked that I could get my coffee or snacks at BCV a lot easier than at BWV. It was a quick walk to the marketplace and all under cover. BWV does not have that and in order to refill my mug in the AM, I had to go to the bakery.

Good luck and have a great trip!

Depends if you're doing studios or a one bedroom. I would normally opt for OKW but if you're doing studios, I wouldn't do OKW because of the two beds vs the bed with a pullout sofa in the other ones. For a 1 BR, I would do OKW and BLT, for studios I would do VWL and BLT. But that's just ME...because we haven't done either of those two yet...we have done BWV a couple times and I'm not interested in BCV so that settled it. ;)
