What special things can be done for a child's birthday?

My friend is considering taking her son to WDW for his birthday weekend - end of march. Is there anything special that the CM's or restaurants or resorts will do for a child's birthday? Just wondering.....

DS and I spent his 9th birthay at MGM. They gave him a button to wear. We stayed at CSR and told them when making the reservation it was his birthday. Reminded the person at check in and they asked what his favorite character was. When we got back to the room at midnight, he had a balloon bouquet with an autographed picture of Aladdin, Jasmine and Genie.

Also, re the buttons - they're fun. DD (6) had one at AK and she got pulled into the Lion King show. DS (9) was asked to be in the Jedi parade.

We were there in March for my nieces 4th birthday. We got her the birthday button in each park. In MK they asked what her favorite ride was and gave her a pass so she could ride it with the family all day long without waiting in line. We also did the Wishes birthday cruise. They decorated the boat with banners and balloons and we were given a giant birthday cake, sodas, noise makers and birthday hats. It was really cute, every time we passed another boat they'd all start hollering out "happy birthday." We took her to the toystore in DTD and let her pick out her own birthday presents.

She really had a great time, I can't imagine her birthday this year will even compare. LOL

We were there last July for DSs 6th birthday. We got him a birthday button in each park too. While walking through the candy store in MK, CMs pointed him out to everyone in the store and had them sing to him and gave him a bunch of stickers (to the point where we still have about 50 left). In the store at OKW they also sang to him and gave him a CM only pin. These are just a couple of the fun things that went on for his special day!!

Hi -
Just because we often vacation mid-to-late August and just because DD's birthday falls in there, she's had several birthdays at WDW.
Always the birthday button. I let them know on reservations and on check-in. At WL, DD and DS got chocolate WL totem pops, an autographed pic of their favorite characters, and a balloon. DD has gotten several pins from CM's, including a special light up one at Epcot, along with a certificate. She's been sung to at Chef Mickey's and applauded by the crowd at another small Epcot show.
There was a great birthday thread on here awhile ago - do a search and I'm sure you'll come up with many other things.
Happy Birthday!!
