I plan on buying lots of stuff for my Disney Scrapbook, kids each want a costume, hubby usually buys a sweatshirt. I like the silhouette idea too!!
D.D.
The only thing left to buy is of course at the top of my list:
1.)A WDW bag I can carry my books in
2.)A Strawberry smoothie from MK
3.)Mousekateer hat with my name embroided
My girls love thier mugs.. used them for hot cocoa all winter last year. I bought a different t shirt for my girls for each day we were there. I also love the scrapbook sets. Bought a pooh one last time and the photos are still sitting in it.. i need to get on the ball before I get behind a trip!
We also look for potato head parts we dont have. Antenae boppers... and of course pins for dd10.
We arent real big collectors. and usually tell the girls they can have $50 each for the whole trip. REMINDING them that we will be shopping at the outlets on the way out of town... that usually lets us budget a little better.
I can guarantee that the first purchase will be my refillable mug!
I'm not a big souvenier person, but I'm going try to find a cell phone antenna topper for my sister - she bought a Fantasia Mickey one last year at Everything Pop, and lost it - boy was she bummed!
Maybe if I can find a neat bumper sticker for my Vespa...
Well, since I don't really know what is available, I don't have a list. I will get shirts of somekind because I always get them on vacations. I also get a Christmas Ornament and fridge magnet (small, easy to carry). I like the silhouette idea. I have wanted some of those of my kids for a while. Where exactly can you get them, how long to they take and how much are they? Is there a limit on how many you can get? Do they come in different sizes?
The cell phone antenna toppers are a must on this trip. Didn't get them last year and regretted it all year. Another snow globe. Last year I saw the Sorcerer Mickey one with all the icons from the parks on it but I was too cheap to buy it, but wanted it so bad....so bad. My SIL took my neice on a Make a Wish Trip and comes back with it for me! And she wouldn't let me pay her for it! It was almost $90!!! Unfortunately, it has a big air bubble so I'm going to take it back this trip to see if they will exchange it for me. But I want another Resort only Snowglobe this trip. Perhaps a Sorcerer Mickey watch, found out I can't wear leather bands anymore so it would need to have a twisty band. And I want some sort of Art Print. My DH is going to kill me because just about everything on my list is going to cost lots. LOL! My girls will probably only want little things. Oh and I want to get the girls silhouttes done too.
Well, definately the refillable mugs and probably a Christmas ornement. After that, a Mickey shirt for my DD2 and something Mickey for DSD24 (she refers to WDW as "the cult"). Possibly some wine from Germany (Eiswein - yum!). And something Chinese from the China pavillion for DD (she's adopted from China). Oh, and a Pal Mickey for each of them. Other than that, my DH and I might get a t-shirt or two. We've been to WDW several times and honestly can't think of much else that we want.
6 beer mug style glass with the Castle and Mickey engraved on the front, and our names on the back - from Crystal Arts in MK (thanks Bonzie1 for the idea)
A Mickey Alarm Clock
A Christmas decoration (we always buy one whenever we travel or for a special event. I take a photo of it, and then the photo and a note saying where we got it and why go in a photo album. At christmas the photo album sits on the side table near the christmas tree - great memories).
That's all we plan to buy. No doubt there will be some unplanned purchaces as well.
Oh and DH will be getting two pins, a plush mickey and an antenna ball during his Gifts of a Lifetime scavenger hunt....which is a surprise.
I KNOW I will be getting the new potatohead parts we don't have. We also always get ornaments. I want to get Mickey Mouse head coasters also. My mom bought some, and I'd really like some too. They are cute!. I will get a sweatshirt also. Other than that, we'll wing it and spend plenty, I'm sure
I'm glad I started this thread..DH probably isn't though. I'm getting my list ready!!
Golfgal: The silhouettes we got were done on Main Street on the right side (while facing the castle). It was about $7 I think and the lady was wonderful. I had never seen it done and she looked at DS and with these tiny little scissors and just snip snip it was a perfect profile of my son. The cool thing is you actually get 2 because it's a folded sheet. So you get 2 for $7. We bought frames to put them in and I want to say it was $12 a frame. They were plastic but they are the classic oval shape and you can't tell on the wall. I have to say it was the cheapest most personal souvie I've seen at Disney.
We saw a stand at the MArketplace and I swear they were $25 or something but I don't know if that included a frame. I would stick w/ Main Street.
so far: antenna toppers, pj's, a shot glass, christmas ornament, pet surprises for my dog Jefferson and cat McKinley, photo album - but I'm sure I'll see much, much more that I want!
DisFam95 (or anyone...) A question about the silhouettes-how long does it take? I'd love to get them done of our 3 sons, but I can't count on them to sit still for long. LOL (They'll be 5, 3 and 11 months for our trip.)
I did this of my son and daughter -- bought the frames too. They look great in my dining room. It was one of the best purchases we've made at WDW. I thought it was a very reasonable price.
Have fun!
Kristen
Edited to add: Liznboys -- it only took a few minutes. We had a longer wait waiting for our turn.
One more thing -- we had a younger woman on Main Street do ours BUT there was an older woman in Liberty Square who seemed to take a little more time doing hers.
DD wants a green Goofy hat. Other than that, I haven't decided. I'll probably buy magnets or something small. DH will probably get a t-shirt. My budget is light, only about $20 for each us, but it's not the material things you come home with that count.
1 - Pins of the year that we are there
Pins of the resort we stay at
Pins of anything special like MVMCP or whatever
2 - Pictures, yeah we are a sucker for those 5x7 pictures at 12.95 each. But
so great to have them for our scrapbooks and memories
3 - The picture package at Chef Mickeys (same as above but different).
Those are the must haves but I am seeing more I want, like the mickey pasta, cookbooks and treats. I can see this thread will be dangerous to my wallet
hmm I think the question for me might be...what won't I buy.....I plan to go to the Outlet on the way into town to buy pins for the 9 yo to trade LOL...
