I have space for three qualifications on my new hypnotherapy website and business cards. The first two are decided - Dip. Hyp. HWHP and DHP Acc. Hyp.

What about the third? Don't overthink it - what SOUNDS best and rolls off the tongue easiest?

TIA!

None. They are just letters to me with no meaning. I don’t use anything after my name professionally. I have a masters and several designations with letters. If I were to get my PhD I might include that.

Normally I'd be the same - but with hypnotherapy, you NEED to demonstrate that you are qualified. Short of rubbing client's faces in your certificates, this is the only way to do it. Reason for this is, hypnotherapy is NOT a regulated profession. Anyone can declare themselves a hypnotherapist, set up shop and practice. But a level 4 qualification is highly recommended. Believe it or not, the best hypnotherapists actually have even LONGER strings of letters than I do!

If it is needed for your profession I would go with the one or one(s) that have meaning and set you a part. I would make sure it is one that someone could google and find the meaning and why It’s important to have.

I whole-heartedly agree. The two dead cert letters mean a lot. The three I mention in this poll mean tonnes, but not as much. I have a slew of interesting letters that don't mean much really. Listing them all would be overload and smugness.

I agree that you should use the ones with the greatest meaning to the general public, so when they look you up and then look up your qualifications they will feel good about making the appointment. Using letters with obscure or insignificant meanings doesn’t help you or your potential clients.

This totally! It's all too easy to hoover up post-nominal letters, you can even buy them, but if they don't MEAN something important, and the client Google's them, they're only gonna get put off. Said point also applies if you bamboozle a client with a long line of letters. It looks silly and is a huge turn off.

Three is the optimum level in this case, IMO. The two long ones (Dip. Hyp. HWHP and DHP Acc. Hyp) both verify that I am a qualified hypnotherapist and not some charlatan. The third one that I am debating over signifies complementary training. Don't need any more than that. Mind you, I have come across a practitioner in London (outside of my catchment area) who has literally three LINES made up of every post nominal under the sun. It was incredibly hard to decipher them and work out what meant what and what if anything the tag was worth. I think four counted for something? The others were guild memberships and tin-pot training courses.
