"Put on Your Sunday Clothes" and "It Only Takes A Moment" from Hello Dolly - both are from the film version which starred Barbara Streisand (although both of the songs from Wall-E are songs from the musical's story arc featuring the supporting "young lover" characters - not Dolly)
Jerry Herman (age 77) who wrote the music and lyrics was quoted in our paper as being thrilled by the interp given his songs in this movie. It has gotten some wonderful reviews. Will try to see it this weekend with the grandkids.(they are my excuse for seeing Pixar movies) LOL-Like I need an excuse.
That was one of my favorite portions of the movie. I was in musicals for over a decade and have had "Put on your Sunday clothes, there's lots of world out there! Walk down the street and have your picture took!" stuck in my head for the past week!
Sort of Off Topic: I think Hello Dolly was one of those movies that is riddled with lore in Hollywood musical trivia, was one of the last movies Gene Kelly directed and choreographed, and Barbara Streisand and Walter Mathau argued on an almost constant basis throughout production, also this marked Michael Crawford's American debut (he played Phantom for years on Broadway and London, Barnum, and recently Lady in White another Andrew Lloyd Weber musical).
