Hey folks!

I'm new to this area of the board. My boyfriend and I are going to DLR early Saturday morning. We are pretty frugal, and the stars pretty much aligned and allowed us to go on a once in a lifetime trip!

To cut to the chase, we have a $200 gift card and we plan on using it for the majority of our food purchases (and some souvenirs!), however, we plan on packing some food in an extra suitcase. I know it sounds silly, but I am a planner and would rather do this all ahead of time (even if it sounds like extra luggage!) and not take time out of my vacation.

We are staying at a motel that has a fridge, microwave and free breakfast. I know I might be forgetting some things to bring, so has anyone packed their own food and what did you bring?

We don't want to pack a ton, but want to pack enough! Thanks in advance!

We bring cereal (we stay at Hojos), crackers such as Cheezits, Goldfish, etc., fruit snacks, pretzels, Uncrustables and bottled water. :goodvibes

It's not silly; there are plenty of us that do the same!:) We typically tend to take pre-packaged food items or items that can be thrown into sandwich bags. The less to lug, the better! We typically take just crackers and cereal (for the lil' ones); but there are other on-the-go snacks like granola bars, trail mix and beef jerky - mmm, jerky!;)

Here is a thread with lots of food idas:

P.S.
Have fun!!!

Thank you so much! I feel silly to have missed that thread, but I've been skimming the past few days and just didn't see it! :)

Great suggestions, but if you bring food into DL, don't you have to eat it in designated areas?

Nope, there are no designated areas. You can eat it where ever you would like, although they would probably frown upon eating a sandwich while on a ride;)

The hotel I usually stay at has a continental breakfast; I supplement it by bringing frozen veggie sausage patties. Why veggie sausage patties? Because they don't go bad if they thaw out in transit!

No, as long as you aren't bringing a huge rolling cooler full of food. We bring in sandwiches, crackers, water bottles, etc. all of the time. :goodvibes

We do bring snacks and some breakfast stuff. Hot oatmeal packages, individual boxes of cereal, bagels (more at WDW where there are toasters in the food court), granola bars, poptarts.

And since we have kids who always want a bedtime snack - cheese and cracker packages, goldfish crackers, and maybe some potato chips.

Just found this on Disneyland.com:

Can I bring food into Disneyland® Park or Disney's California Adventure® Park? Back to Top

With the exception of food items for Guests with specific dietary restrictions, food or beverage items are not permitted into either of the Disneyland® Resort theme parks.

I always bring in snacks and drinks for my kids. They have never said anything when they look through the bags when you walk in. I have seen tons of people eating brought in food too.

We bring water, capri suns (frozen so they are still cool later in the day), crackers, fruit snacks, granola bars, pringles (regular chip bags get smashed), pretty much anything but chocolate or something else that would melt in a backpack.

Well, we have brought food in many, many times....so although the "rules" may say it isn't allowed...it isn't enforced either.

We bring PB&J, Power Bars (or a version thereof), grapes, trail mix, jerky, fruit snacks, and usually 2 water bottles. You can refill your water bottles at the first aid station for free. The ladies that work in there are super nice and encourage you to refill you bottles with their filtered, cold water.

While the rules may say that we have always brought food in with us, your food just needs to be premade, no bringing in jars of mayo and loafs of bread (we got stopped with those a few year ago and they had us go premake stuff first). Have a great trip!!

I plan to bring things my kids and husband like. They like those little Hostess mini muffin packs in the morning (easy on the go) or a box of donuts. We will have juice boxes or capri suns, bottled water. Goldfish crackers, animal crackers, they like the mini marshmellows too, cereal (cheerios, lucky charms), granola bars. I've brought in a baggie of grapes and string cheese in a cold pack lunchbox. If you have a microwave in your room, you could bring popcorn.

We usually just do snacks. And purchase our meals.

Yes. The only thing we are ever asked is "Do you have any glass containers?" Glass is a NO NO!

great ideas, but I don't think the reg. rooms at the GCH have microwaves so I guess no popcorn for me.
